I had Beterbiev winning - he turned the corner in the 6th round. Bivol tried to turn the fight in his favour in the 7th and Artur was having none of it and hurt Bivol. If it had been a 15 round fight Beterbiev gets the stoppage round 14-15
This. Atleast someone else watched the fight properly..

1-3 bivol doing bivol things and beterbiev startung slow
4-6 beterbiev got comfortable already, bullied bivol
7-8 both swing rounds, bivol had second wind at 7 but is a swing coz despite bivol showing up, beterbiev was unbothered and had an answer of his own for those rounds
9-12 bivol alrdy gassed out and barely throwing, betwrbiev closed this one out

So idk why tf people think 116-112 is a robbery when bivol won 3 rounds minimum + 1 possible swing round at 7..
and thats my score watching from a dazn video with audio on, where commentaries and highlights are so biased to make and sound bivol dominating (which he never at any point of the fight) they might as well shove their faces and mouth in bivol's deek..

The ESPN telecast team really soured the 175lb unification. Tim probably had money on it

IMO betterbiev won't have much problems with Benevides. you can't take that power flush from Betterbiev and Benevides don't have that kinda Defense. I am certain Benevidez will take that fight though. he seems to be cool with fighting the tough fights lately. thankfully he left the Canelo b.s. behind. Canelo is trash. media is trash for acting like Canelo is some p4p guy as well. he hasn't "earned" anything and hasn't had many if any clear wins against the TOP guys he has fought...

Based on how Benevidez performed at 175 lbs against Gvozdyk, I think Beterbiev smokes him. He is a relentless train that just keeps coming and Benavidez does not have Bivol's defence which means he will be clipped again and again. Nobody can take those punches clean without going down.

Scored it a draw. My understanding was that Benavidez would fight Morrell but if he fights either of these guys I can't see him winning. Bivol would jab & move all night & just jab Benavidez' head off. Beterbiev will just eat Benavidez, that isn't close. Morrell has speed & skills but I can't see him troubling either man. I think Morrell could do 168 & has moved up because he thinks there are bigger fights at 175. These are big beasts that probably walk around at 220 or 230 & Beterbiev, in particular, is going to be just far too big, too strong, too much of a bad MoFo for Morrell.

However, my immediate thought at the final bell was that Beterbiev conclusively wins a 15 round fight, probably by stoppage as you suggest. Anyone who considers that an irrelevant point should consider that any comparisons between modern greats and virtually all the greats prior to around ‘82 demand speculation as to how the modern fighters would perform over that traditional championship distance. And Beterbiev-Bivol was one fight where plenty of people were justifiably comparing it to the all time great 175lb matchups. I think Artur would be an absolute monster over those historic championship rounds that really propelled guys like Alexis Arguello from very good fighters to legends of the ring.
good post - Beterbiev had a head of steam from 10th onwards - and 6 rounds of that would have been extremely difficult to resist

good post - thanks - I had it 8-4 or 7-5 Beterbiev - I couldn't find more than 5 rounds for Bivol - heavy-handed punches have to weigh heavier in a judges mind than crisp, clean and light punches.
Effective aggression - part of that is how much damage you are doing - or look to be doing - or are assumed to be doing - because if you are doing damage then your aggression is effective.

david would get ***ing mauled, probably stopped in 6 or under. i dont think he knows how to fight on the back foot. his defense isnt all that. his high work rate leaves him open. bivol did the best he could, the reason he was shelled up late in the fight barely throwing is he didnt want to get KO'd, he was exhausted and broken down. Everyone else got stopped, David gets stopped too.
