Interesting reason for switching trainers but that is not why he lost to Canelo. He was outclassed. He could have trained in the clouds and he still would have lost.

Yup, once Canelo figured out his jab and reach he had no answers. Even when he rallied he would get hit back good.

It was Dela Hoya's idea, just to hype up the fight a bit, in my estimation.

At this stage, Munguia can stick with his original trainer till he retires. It's no big deal. He's learning by experience, not because trainers added something miraculous.

I felt Jamie was competitive with Canelo and did not see the fight as one sided as most people report. Having said that, Canelo won the fight clearly but he did not carry Munguia. The reasons given for changes are usually not the real ones but the reasons that sound the most plausible and offend the least.

idk what canelo is doing, everyone knows that claiming u carried an opponent is going to irk at the very least that opponent & their team and yet canelo talks up his fellow countryman while also delivering that line

So he left roach because roach didn’t have him train in higher altitudes? That’s ironic because I remember Cotto left Diaz to go to roach after Diaz had him train in big bear for the trout fight and Cotto felt like it had an adverse effect on him. He asked roach about his philosophy on training in high altitudes and roach told him it’s pointless unless you’re fighting in a high altitude, so Cotto signed on.

Bad move by Munguia. He was expected to lose VS Canelo. Some folks expected him to get knocked out. He did not. He could probably thank Freddie Roach for that. I think he should have continued to train under Roach, until he lost against someone not named Canelo.

Munguia did a little better than Berlanga did. It was a red flag for me when he left 160 quick without fighting Adames, Lara or Alimkanuly. SO are we to believe he will fight the other top guys at 168?
