Another Cheeto faced chubby finger kid calling a PRO BOXER (could be any) a “bum.” Please enlighten the forum what you do before 7am and throughout the day that allows you to call any man who makes his living getting punched in the face repeatedly a “bum.” We’re waiting “champ.”

He has much more work to do.

His fight against McCumby was fun, but it wasn’t anywhere near fight of the year.
Anyone can reach the HOF if they placed Porter into it.

Not all 3 orgs in unison though. That’s different.

Caleb seems like a nice guy and fun to watch. I enjoyed the fight on the weekend as it was entertaining. Becoming a boxing icon of the modern ere - that is stretching it a bit too much. Both times that he stepped up and fought people with any sort of name recognition - he lost. I can only see him becoming a gate keeper and a measuring stick for the hungry young lions coming up wanting to test their skills against a former champion.

I would expect a more realisitic view from a person with 7k posts. Like give credit where it's due.

            "Average" compared to who?

Plant is def a top guy Maybe top 10, or 15, or 20. Yes he lost against Nelo and Benny, but he fought them and actually tried to win, unlike a bunch of people who showed up for a check and tried not to get killed.

            Even Nelo won't fight Benny.

If Plant is average, you must have an extremely short list of fighters who qualify as "good" or better.

Based on his average comment and with “fans” such as these it’s a wonder boxing is even around anymore. Hell, with USA Tuesday Night Fights, ESPN Friday Night Fights, HBO After Dark and Championship Fights, Shobox and Championship Fights, boxing is a ghost of itself. I guess the only ones who matter are the top 3 and that’s it. Unless there’s an appreciation for all boxers and a resurgence you can kiss boxing bye bye within the next 10 years.

I've been a Plant fan since the FS1 days, but he's one of these dudes who doesn't fight enough & it's stunted his development & now it might be too late.

He still is a great boxing personality, which is what I think the piece was saying.

plant is a solid fighter and certainly a top 5 guy in a fairly weak division, but to say he's on the verge of being an icon and that the mccumby fight (i didn't see it, by the way) is fight of the year...that's straight up madness. some of the things written in the articles on this site lately are pure insanity and i think MOST fight fans just want an objective take on the sport. you definitely need to do better than uzcategui, 2022 dirrell, and caleb truax to be in the hall of fame, nevermind on the verge of becoming an icon lol. if he only needs 2 more wins at 168 to qualify for the HOF as one of the posters above mentioned, the standards of boxing have plummeted. no need to hype up a boxer/fight just because it was part of a 90 dollar PPV put on by your favorite promotional outfit.

speaking of defunct programs like FNF and boxing after dark, lara vs garcia is totally the type of fight that would have headlined FNF or opened up boxing after dark if they were still on the air. absolutely not a co-feature on a PPV. boxing deserves all the criticism it gets with the garbage they feed us between the lackluster cards and agenda-driven journalism

You use that term to degrade the skills Plant. McCumby was 127-11 as an amateur and was ranked top 10 in all 3 major orgs. Talented fighter who is skilled but just wasn’t brought up as well as he could have been.
Well I can at least admit that it was best fight of the night on a very shitty pay per view card. Every fighter who was favorite to win on that card won.

However, I did believe that Lara/Garcia would be more competitive though. I gave Danny a huge chance of upsetting Lara but I was wrong.

I’m pretty sure that you agree with me that at age 36; Danny “Swift” Garcia is now a washed up fighter who needs to retire. He looked very tired, old and slow.

Are you still peeved at Andre Ward for ruining Sergei Kovalev’s career? Ward not only defeated him once but twice and the second one came by way of knockout
