Comments Thread For: Moses Itauma excited by the prospect of fighting Joe Joyce

Moses Itauma is a different type of heavyweight. The 19-year-old is a prodigiously talented fighter but for a youngster with the world at his feet, he seems remarkably relaxed about the attention he is generating.

Great prospect, but he’ll end up with shot confidence if he’s moved too quickly.

This kid is fantastic. At 19 if he decides to just fight frequently, and keeps developing his already substantial skill set, he has incredible potential. As long as he does not have a "Jared Anderson" kind of loss, he could stand to lose fights coming up... He should really look at how Chisora handles things. At 19 if he can fight enough, by the time he hits his stride he could be young and dominant for a long while! He just has to take the long view and keep mobile and fit, not to fall in love with his power and become another whale.

At 19 if this kid moves along... and lets say he gets in a bad way? make an agreement with him that the fight will be stopped. I mean the division is so weak and he has many skills, I say let him fight fight and fight, learn how not to get hit, be mobile... Get experience! Get a mentality that e is learning and to develop and fight anyone. Otherwise he will languish and like jared, when he hits a wall he will be discounted. These guys have to learn the craft, they should fight like 3 times a year if they can. Take losses in stride, get better!

I take the long view. If this kid manages to keep it clean, get experience and develop his skills which are already substantial, imagine when he hits 30!!

They should bring him up like Top Rank does their prospects, so that by the time that he's got twenty or so fights he's been in progressively harder fights , seen different styles and skill sets while developing his own , and having earned confidence by solving puzzles and passing tests in the ring. This kid has tremendous upside if he's managed right. TBH , even if he's poorly matched , he would get pretty far just on natural talent and ability. For staying power they should do it right though.

Joe Joyce gettin all kinds of paydays these days. I guess that's what happens when people figure out he's beatable and has somewhat of a name. He takes so many shots, I hope this ends ok for him.

Absolutely. Get him into a mentality where his goal is to get better and better, solve "those puzzles" as you put it.

Whatever Joe had before , he's no longer got it. He'd be wise to hang the gloves up while he can still communicate, feed himself , etc. There's nothing good that's going to happen to Joe Joyce if he continues fighting. He had a good run , made plenty of money , now he needs to start thinking about the future and his long term health.

Take it easy kid.... It is not about Joyce, it is what is after that. And most of what is next after a Joe Joyce fight you are not really ready for.

Get that experience. The HW division will need stars in about 2 more years in a bad, bad way. You could absolutely be one of the better ones if you accept the marathon, not short cuts.
