Comments Thread For: Luis Nery: 'If Mike Tyson Can Lose His Unbeaten Record At Tokyo Dome, So Can Naoya Inoue'
Mexican former two-division world champion Luis Nery is aware that the odds are stacked against him, but a major upset in Tokyo wouldn't be the first of its kind.

That's the spirit. Anybody can lose. You not only go after the pay day, but the glory of beating the top guy. Unlike some Charlo whose only reason for taking the fight is the retirement cheque. Or some Frank Martin turning down a fight because the retirement cheque is not enough. The chance of beating a top 5 had no value. It's like turning down an interview for a job, which he applied for in the first place.
We know Nery will do anything he can, in or out of the ring, legal or illegal to win. He has history. If anything happens that mitigates the revenge in Tokyo, it's on them. Nery doesn't have to win, just make a mark. They're giving him an opportunity to do damage after banning him for life.
I do not give Nery much more than a punchers chance, particularly because Inoue will have national pride at stake. This will be a very focused, prepared Inoue.
But I mean... Nery is a pretty good puncher. So it is enough of a chance to at least make the pre-fight build up interesting.
