Good article. I thought there shouldve been more examples and some explanations of why cerain fights (which didn't involve brain damage or death) shouldn't be watched.
Like:
If you don't like a farce, and people telling you something is what it isn't, you might not want to watch these...
1. Young hyped up-and-comer vs a short guy with a 52" reach.
2. Top 10 guy fighting a guy you never heard of until the fight promo.
3. Anybody vs a guy with 10-10 record or even 5-10.
4. A guy who hasn't fought in 2 or 3 years.
You'd miss a lot of fights, but not a lot of good ones.
You'd miss some upsets too, though, and that's what makes upsets so appealling. We all like a cherry pick gone bad, right? The guy who doesnt play by the script and pulls open the curtain on this charade.
Not watching Paulie-Broner on moral grounds because of the build up?
Ali and Mike, the two biggest stars in the history of the sport said way more controversial stuff. Mike even threatened to **** a guy at a press conference. I suppose you didn’t watch that too?
Good timing after last night’s performance from Hitchens, but one thing stood out for me, and that was him forgiving Shakur for stinking up the joint in the De Los Santos fight, and not vice versa. At least De Los Santos TRIED to make it exciting: Shakur did nothing of the sort.
