Comments Thread For: Wilder's Trainer Sees Andy Ruiz, Daniel Dubois as Possible Future Options

Malik Scott, head trainer for former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, believes there are plenty of options out there for his boxer. Last weekend in Saudi Arabia, Wilder snapped a 14 month layoff and suffered a twelve round unanimous decision loss to former WBO champion Joseph Parker.

He won't face Dubois. And Dubois must aim at better options. Ruiz and Wilder, having their reputation down, are the best option for each other.

Wilder needs a quick couple of journeymen to get rid of his ring rust and get his timing and confidence back. Like, have Wilder fight in Feb./Mar. and again in May/Jun. This will also be a check to see if he has any motivation left to go through the rigor of training and fighting at the elite level again. Then, perhaps rematch Parker or go for Andy, and if he wins then Joshua or Usyk.

Otherwise, he just needs to call it a day instead of embarrassing himself any further.

I'd be interested in Joe Joyce.

Wilder would land on Joyce on his worst day and Joyce for his part if he remained upright would beating the s.hit out of Wilder.

          That fight is fascinating.

If he wants to fight on, he should fight beatable but decent guys. Fight DDD, Joyce, Miller or Bakole or somebody like that. If Wilder can win, than he should fight Ruiz next.

Wilder has just went 12 rounds with Parker, that is activity mate.

He should still stay fighting at a good level, and of course 'Aim to win those fights'.

How far down in levels do you suggest Wilder should go?

Wilder has stated in the aftermath of his fight vs Parker 'That he believes he did enough to win the fight'.

Therefor Wilder should have no issue with fighting Ruiz Junior or another top level fighter next 'Wilder did not win the fight vs Parker. But if he within himself believes he did enough, then he should just carry on with his career trajectory i.e Wilder wants to be involved in big fights.

Note: No matter what people say about Joshua, during is comeback 'Joshua has not been fighting journey men, Franklin, Helenius and Wallin are not Journey men' etc.

Helenius is a journeyman. It’s long ago he was a contender.

He was a good contender once. Sharp and methodological in his approach to jab until he found the openings. Now he’s just timber falling hard each time he fights a serious fight. His best wins since Chisora are Teper and Kownacki both of whom are complete bums.

Franklin has just stepped up against Whyte and AJ. Wallin has been a fringe contender but remaining victorious against better opposition than Helenius.

Helenius is a journeyman who happened to beat a no-good contender in Kownacki.

                    Bakole will kill him.
