HBO, Golden Boy Shame Shane At Mayweather’s Expense

By Jake Donovan - For the better part of 2009, HBO and Golden Boy have collectively waffled over how exactly to proceed with the career of resurrected welterweight star “Sugar” Shane Mosley.

They have failed miserably. For that matter, so has Shane Mosley.

It should be a problem first for Mosley and Golden Boy to deal with from within, and then sort out the rest with HBO.

Instead, their follies have now somehow become Floyd Mayweather Jr’s problem.

Mayweather was barely five minutes into celebrating a virtual shutout over Juan Manuel Marquez in his first fight in more than 21 months before he was put on the spot to commit to his next fight.

The perception going into the evening was that Mayweather-Marquez was an expensive infomercial to sell a Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao super fight sometime next year, assuming that Pacquiao survives his November showdown with Miguel Cotto, by no means a given. [details]

Not such a great article. The question is simple. Who else is mayweather going to fight and maintain some credibility. Mosley stated so all can see, he is willing to do the damn thing. Nothing wrong with that. If there's anyone to blame for taking Floyd's moment, its Max. Max brought Mosely's name up and the man was right there to answer. What was Mosley supposed to do?? Was he supposed to say, "I want the fight," then walk away like some sucker. No, he did what he was supposed to do. He wants the fight and waited for Floyd's response. Floyd stuttered his way through some incoherent answer all while not letting go of Mosley's hand.

Mosley did the right thing. Hatton called Floyd out on national TV, he got the fight. JMM called him out on national TV, he got the fight. Mosley calls him out on TV(in front of his face), he's wrong?? Yeah right. Another self serving Mayweather fans article. I could get behind Mayweather if he wasnt so transparent. He claims he's one of the greatest to lace em up, but has not foughth the best guys of his era. One of the best of this era was staring him in the face, challenging him to a fight and all Mayweather did was stutter and hold hands...

I would like Floyd fighting Mosley in the 1st quater of 2010. Get his ass out the way and be ready for the big dance with Pac later in the year.

I totally agree with this aritcle 100%! Mosley has been
mismanaging his career for sometime now and Golden/HBO havent
been exactly helping him get it right so now Mosley goes and blames
Pacquiao and Mayweather for his lack of business sense and an
obliging team. Mosley is trying to fool people into believing that
Floyd and Pac are scared of him but in all actuality he is just not
positioned right in the equation and should have seen that EARLY
instead of begging for a fight. After Margarito, he should have
went for Clottey or try to secure a rematch with Cotto before
Migule fought Clottey. Mosley had plenty of time to do that
BUT what did Sugar Dumb do?

Say that Cotto was a step backwards and all he wants is big money
fights? Cotto would have been a great step forward if he could
avenge that lost he suffered from Miguel considering He just
handed Margarito his ass! The only guy to stop Cotto the man
who beat him. Aint nobody scared of Mosley, his problem is that
he always want to be on the A side of the equation but he is not.
Sure he is a great and respected fighter but he hasnt done squat
for his career in terms to getting to the point where Pac/Floyd
                  and even Cotto are.
