I understand with the deal for Joshua starting in his next fight with Dazn, to take yet another loss and maybe a real hammering would be hard to swallow for all concerned. I hope Joshua struggles in his quest for another easy title fight he doesn't deserve.
Unfortunately, Hrgovic is going to inherit the vacant IBF belt after the Fury vs. Usyk winner vacates.

He is co-promoted by Matchroom and Wasserman, so it is an easy fight to make and the financial incentive for Hrgovic to sell his belt to AJ is obvious.

Then Hearn will come back to the table demanding a 50/50 split against Fury.

What makes either of them more appealing than Joe Joyce or Daniel DuBois? Michael Hunter and Andy Ruiz are looking for dance partners too!
Neither Fury wants to make a dangerous fight right now (without the big purse) nor does Joyce or Dubois want to lose their positions with a loss at this point. Fury most probably is looking for big payday fights with Joshua or Usyk and since both of them would take time, he wants a stay-busy fight in-between given how long he would have been inactive.

Fury vs Usyk and Wilder vs Joshua are the fights to make now while Joyce/Dubois/etc will have their mandatories lined up in 6-12 months' time.

And Hearn will come out with a different version of events. It's seeming more and more likely that neither side really wanted it. More effort would have been made and they wouldn't have been so quick to give up and move on otherwise.

That’s an interesting angle, you could well be right with that one. As it stands currently looking at the mandatory fighter’s form at all the major organisations, perhaps this would be the easiest defence and the champion may well hold on to the IBF belt for this reason.

I've jut read Jff Powels comments on the matter & he confirmed what I've already said & it's worse that I thought.
Aj is so whored out with sponsorships he was demanding A-side to keep them all happy.

He's a 1man ufc in his own promotion & has to have everything his way. The delusonal stroppy meltdown child. #nolegacy unless you count shot 38-41 year olds

The Fury-Usyk winner may very well retire after undisputed. Even if they do not, fights against Joyce or the Wilder-Ruiz Jr winner are far more lucrative.

Plus, the IBF tend to be the strictest organisation when it comes to enforcing their mandatories.

They were the first to strip Fury after he defeated Klitschko, in fact, I think he still holds a grudge against the IBF for that

George Warren is an inexperienced novice, the first time I see his face in a prominent role, and already failed getting the job done. If it wasn't for his dad, he be fired. You don't send bench-warmers to close the show in the playoffs, that tells me Queensbury were jerking us around -- nice try at saving face Frank.

Fury is on hold pattern until Usyk becomes available
Then why fight at all in December? Plus, Usyk said he wants the winner of Wilder vs. Helenius next, so what's Fury going to do, fight bums until next summer?

Joyce wants the fight now! fury said he needs to get his name up first. Joyce is a better fight than Charr or Chisora!

Joyce is too much of a threat. Andy's dad already said a Fury fight would only make sense on May 5th. Hunter has been off the radar for a while.

The only reason Fury wanted AJ regardless of being a threat was because that would be Fury's second biggest paycheck of his career. The risk was worth the reward unlike with Joyce and the others.
Charr and Chisora are both washed! Fighting either of them is an insult to the fans!
