Eating flush punches?! Which fight did I miss? You act as if he's been troubled at some point. I can't even think of one ROUND that he's lost in his last 5 fights or so. "Chin up in the air eating flush punches for no damn reason" is one of the oddest things I've heard on this site
Sean Zittel (FightHype, Porter Way Podcast, etc) has repeatedly called out the same thing. You're blind if you claim to not have seen it, it's every fight. He doesn't move his head hardly at all.
It's not about being "troubled". He's getting hit when he doesn't need to and the moment someone with power lands, he won't walk through it. He's just been fighting scrubs so you're fooled off the 'eye test'.
Same was true of NSB's last 'eye test' in the Bully Bektemir. We saw what eventually happened to him.
You guys do this every time, smh. You get the hots for a fighter and start giving them imaginary W's because they're undefeated and look unstoppable against lesser opponents.
Stop it already! You should know better by now that the sport DOES NOT work like a fantasy league- something similar to your wishes above. Boots doesn't even need to be mentioned until the elites of the division face one another and he's actually fought somebody of note.
The man hasn't even been tested yet and his team and gym buddies are doing the proverbial "pitbull" talk as though they're holding him back from attacking others. Again, Boots has NOT been tested yet.
"B-b-b-but nobody in da division wanna fight him doe. Dey scared of Boots! Dey running from Boots!" Listen, there are tiers of opponents for a reason in each division. He's fought smaller men thus far and I'm just not as overly convinced as some of you are that he's great. He still has to prove that at some point...even when he is in position to face bigger names.
Again, Boots is a great talent but we need to allow him to grow while we push the bigger names to face one another.
Crawford Spence fight taking long time to make, maybe it gets made, maybe not. Boots blowing up everything they put in front of him. Rises to the ocation, making it look way to easy. I agree there are levels. He's not the one hiding. Thuman don't want that smoke. Danny not sticking around. So where does that leave Boots to ascend to ? Ugas? I want Crawford Spence to play out. Enis right there. Hes ranked 1in IBF, Ortiz ranked higher in other ABC's. Is Ortiz not a real option right now? He's got more pro fights then Spence. I ain't mad at him
The manner of beating the competition matters though, to the eye test. Berlanga, for instance, I think is majorly overrated. Lots of bad habits even in his blowout knockouts of tomato cans. Doesn't know how to cut off the ring, loads up on his punches, and doesn't have basic skills like an educated jab, nor does he seem to be able to make adjustments.
In contrast, you see Boots demonstrate a number of skills in his wins, from taking angles to intelligent punch selection. If you're up against weak opposition, you should be able to show out, and people can also see whether you can showcase basic skills, like being defensively responsible or using different jabs to create entries and offense, evaluate footwork, see whether they've got the killer instinct, and other things more specific to the fighting style. If they're a counterpuncher, can they punch with their opponent? How do they do with timing? If they're a pressure fighter, can they cut off the ring? Do they use feints? Do they alter their speed and range to set up their power shots? How's their shot placement?
There's lots of things you can see fighters showcase even against weak opposition, and if they have the skills, they'll likely be able to hang against top opposition, because, as the adage goes, skills pay the bills. Then main questions become whether they have a chin (Amir Khan), and whether they're about to make adjustments.
Crawford left his promoter and we still haven't gotten a fight date 8 months later but it can't possibly be the GREAT PBC to the Al Haymon fanboys. 100% the catch is he won't sign a clown PBC contract like Broner is complaining about so Haymon won't let him walk off with those 4 belts. He already said he wants Charlo so obvious he isn't going anywhere when he takes care of Strap Season or Why would I fight you when I can fight the easy fights (like people forgot that little bit commentary from Spence) or the trainer protection programs - Shields and James - Why we have to fight them (Crawford and Andrade) b/c they are nobodies? You'd think I'm making this stuff up if it really didn't happen.
You were the same guy arguing about being from the hood or something goofy like that- it had something to do with 50 Cent. I remember your goofy ass and that "discussion" we had when I was simply teaching you to let the past go and grow up.
Yeah.....that was you!
I need to find something better to do with my time than entertain fools like you while trying to make sense. You'll never get it. Why don't I get that? Lol
I have no idea what you're talking about, but carry on young man!
Crawford already said he wants Jermell Charlo! That's personal! Not sure if I would have let Vergil stay at 147 after nearly dying to make 147! I might have moved him up to 154 now. However Vergil has the same problem @ 147, that he will have at 154! Who does he fight? He could've forced a fight with Crawford! Wouldn't have been a good look, but he could have. If Oscar can't get Garcia a fight with Tank, Vergil should leave GBP as soon as he can!
Completely agree with Ortiz and the weight. It's still relatively early days in his career and he should have already moved up. He just needs to keep winning at whatever division he's in and the fights will come but you could be right and maybe he needs to leave GBP.
If Crawford beats Spence then Charlo fight at 154 becomes more realistic but, when Spence goes to 154, I think maybe Charlo moves to 160.
There's a lot of moving pieces and most of it depends on the Spence -Crawford situation.

I think win, lose, or draw, Spence moves to 154! No doubt, if Crawford wins, he's going for Jermell Charlo! Question is what happens if Spence wins? Would he really fight his stablemate?
