Can someone explain what the judges in Canelo-Bivol were doing exactly?

If you are going to fix the fight, why would they leave it one round short of a result for Canelo?

You give Canelo the first 4 rounds on each card, and none of them could find 2 of the remaining 8 to slide his way as well?

Obviously Bivol deserved the win, I just can't understand why the judges did a halfway fix. It's like they got new instructions after round 4 and decided to not fix the fight.

The close scoring is used as a selling point for the rematch. Most casual fans see the scores and think close fight. Same as the boxing fans that didn’t see it.

Only the diehards that saw it understand how wide a blowout this was. If judges score this right, Canelo looks worse and you can’t have the cash cow dominated like that. Might f-ck up the money.

The judges did what was best for the system as a whole- gave the fight to who won it but not in a way that lowers the earning power of the cash cow- who brings in big money for the whole city 2x a year.

I guess I'm a cynic because I think Canelo won some rounds officially vs GGG that were just as clear against him as some rounds vs Bivol. But I see your point.

Nash made this exact same point The other day. The last 8 rounds were all clear, no argument, with 7 of them going to Bivol, and round 9 going to Canelo. Nash scored 3 of the first 4 for Canelo. All the first 4 rounds were very close, and Nash can't understand people who don't see that? Bivol took over completely from round 5, but after 4, there was nothing in it. Nash out.

Each judge floated as many rounds as they could to Canelo while not getting suspended. They secretly hoped that the other two judges would have it a draw.
They hoped by showing that they are willing to give Canelo his STROKE ( even if it wasent enough ) that they will still be considered for future Canelo fights.
I mean all Canelo had to do on the cards was win one of the last three rounds and he would have gotten a draw. It was all teed up for him. Brilliant really. He was just really spent and soundly beaten that he just couldn’t do it.
It was a “SCREW” too far.
