Comments Thread For: Canelo: Everybody Want To Fight Me, They Need To Fight Each Other; This Year, I'm Busy

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez does not have any problem serving as the sport's cash cow. The time has come, however, for others to start doing their part. News of Guadalajara's Alvarez (57-1-2, 39KOs) deciding to next challenge WBA light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol figures to have a ripple effect across the middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.

Everybody knows he is the money man.

Top boxers of an era are notorious for waiting around for the cash cow. In the meantime they fight soft touches or stay inactive until that fight can happen. They don’t want to ruin their chances.

Shane Mosley after destroying Margarito, knew his time was almost up and that was his last good performance. So he waited around idle, going to Wild Card gym to beg Pacquiao for a fight, getting inside of the ring after Mayweather-Marquez. Fighters who display this behavior usually have the fans backing/blessing to continue it. Just sit around calling for the cash cow to fight you. Fans love fighters who do this.

Canelo stays active, keeps adding top 10 names to his resume. Everyone else is sitting around either doing nothing or fighting soft touches.

The difference is Shane had faced everyone by then, was coming off a big win as you mentioned, and on the tail end of his career. However, these pool of fighters mentioned haven't put in the work, they've spent the bulk of their primes protecting their 0s/waiting around for a jackpot to land in their laps.

I’ll tell you one thing.. I remember first seeing Canelo on the mayweather vs Mosley undercard and had no idea who he was. He got hurt in the first round and I thought he was a flat footed, but talented puncher. Didn’t think he’d go too far.

he’s come a long way since then, and trained hard to become the infinitely better fighter he is now.

            Gotta respect that

Alvared has the right mindset. When you're the cherry pick king you can say this.

Pacquiao fought an old clottey, an old Mosley, a 39yr old Marquez, Jessie Vargas, Brandon Rios and Chris Algeiri while waiting for the Floyd Payday.

Canelo is delusional if he thinks Benavidez, Charlo and Andrade will fight each other.

Charlo, Benavidez, he's talking about you! I know Benavidez is down for it, but Charlo is running scared! Fighting Plant or Adames is not getting the job done! If Charlo can't fight Munguia, or GGG, he should do like Andrade, and fight David Morrell Jr. @ 168, for his secondary WBA title! If successful, then fight Benavidez, or Canelo! MAN UP!

It's been sad to watch 3 divisions (160-175) of fighters all face safe opposition while hoping they can get a Canelo shot.
