I think Hearn specifically wants him to take on fighters who have worked with pbc since pbc has the welterweights. Getting Broner is about selling dazn subscriptions, nothing more. We all know Broner is about a decade past it, doesn’t fight anymore, and never looked exceptional at welterweight. It’s an easy win for Benn and that entire team knows it. Hearn will not got for any welterweight controlled by Golden Boy or Top Rank, he has always wanted pbc guys on his app at welteright

Calzaghe is 4 years younger than Roy. When they fought, Roy was 40 and had multiple losses already and no longer on the P4P list. Calzaghe was undefeated and coming off huge win over Kessler and B-Hop. Two vastly different mindsets. Calzaghe would have been destroyed by Roy had they fought in their prime and I love Calzaghe.

Two, can you name the guys that Roy should have traveled to fight in Europe other than Dariusz Michalczewski, who also refused to leave the comfort of Germany?

Roy was #1 P4P for almost a decade. The idea that he was unknown in Europe is just asinine. That’s like saying nobody in Europe knew Floyd during his reign as the #1 P4P from 2005-2015.

The Collins or Benn tales are just that, tales. There’s always context that people tend to leave out or ignore.
Roy Jones got in his own way of pop culture fame, like Mayweather received, because he avoided the big fights in his prime. Mayweather became known by more than just traditional boxing fans. Jones did not....and he has himself to blame. He arrogantly refused to share close to equal purses against the likes of Benn, Eubanks, Hopkins (in a rematch), and Calzaghe when he was in his prime. He would often state that he would fight them for a 70 to 30 split, which was his way of ducking those opponents. Had he fought just one or two of those fighters, and perhaps won, his legacy would have changed. It was until he was no longer in his prime, starting to lose, and essentially broke, did he step in the ring with Calzaghe and Hopkins (for the 2nd time). This is a reason he stayed in the ring too long. He needed the money, and he was chasing ghosts. Jones would've easily gone down as a household pop icon and definitely one of my favorite fighters of all time. Now he barely cracks my top 25.

He recently fought Tyson. A lot of my non boxing fan friends didn't even know who Roy Jones was. They knew who Tyson was and never saw any of Tyson's fights. They know who Mayweather is. But not Roy. Roy's fault.

        I don’t mind the fight

his own promoter said he’s simply not really for the best fighters in the division and he’s not.

So let’s just forget about him fighting a champ or top prospect anytime soon because it’s not happening. With that in mind, the Broner fight is a good one.

Hearn has said he’s putting him nowhere near Vergil Ortiz or Ennis. So that’s a good insight into where Hearn really thinks Benn is.

I don’t mind the Broner fight, he’s pretty irrelevant now but people need to get it into their minds Benn isn’t fighting any dangerous fights soon. So, it’s only going to be fighters like Broner or Robert Guerrero or something, recognisable faded names. So at least Broner brings a bit of character to the potential fight.

Collins and others hounded him round the States it's well documented, Collins cornered him about him he believes he was promised that fight,

Sorry it hurts but it's true, how would any casual boxing fan have heard of him ..

Its 100% true I watched super middle weight as a casual with 10s of millions of others on TV and one day in one fight I remember someone saying this guy Roy Jones might be able to give these guys a fight ........... that's the only time I ever heard his name mentioned, it was years later I looked him up when he fought Calzaghe in the States obviously.

Why would they have heard of him, Roy beat none of them in the US or outside you can go on about the eye test all you want but he proved nothing one win even i the States would have made a hell've difference.

Ali, Tyson all big names in the mainstream press, Jones was just for the guys who bought Ring ****zine or subscribed to tapes.

Where is Adrien Broner, anyone know if he is out of jail now?

The guy has been quiet for a while.

Clearly ducked David Avenasyan. Also ducked Florian Marku. Two fighters who would come to win. It is hard to take Conor Benn seriously after these two ducks.
