The biggest drawing boxing match of the last 5 years is Floyd vs an MMA fighter, the second biggest is Mike Tyson vs RJJ in an exhibition match where no winner was declared and a Youtuber vs an NBA player was the co main. This year alone we've had a Youtuber vs Floyd, that Youtubers brother in two boxing matches with MMA fighters, almost 60 year old Holyfield vs an MMA fighter with a co-main of two MMA fighters fighting each other. And theres still other fights like these lined up for the year and some that were cancelled.

This sheer volume of circus bull****, and the fact that these are bigger than 99% of serious boxing matches, is a totally new phenomenon, and its bad.

Yeah you can't really blame Floyd and Co when Ali had a fight with a wrestler in japan and I'm sure there is other fighters predating that was putting on clown shows when they were broke or looking for easy money.

On Sherdog MMA fans give little credibility to Usman's challenge:

The obvious difference is these clown shows are now happening every few weeks and account for the majority of high profile "boxing" matches. One of the biggest stars in the sport is a Youtuber who has had 4 fights, none of them against boxers. Its a totally different situation.

De La Hoya: Conor McGregor vs Canelo Alvarez is the only fight that makes sense

That's only because the real fighters ain't fighting each other, "marination" and "side of the street" stuff has absolutely ruined the sport.
Allowing these guys step in and to take what should be the real fighters shine.

Chasing paydays like every other UFC tool. Problem with Canelo is that money is secondary to him at this point with how much bread he's got and is still making. History and glory come first.

Yes, definitely. The only difference is that they are actually boxers and have a boxing record that makes them a "champion" potentially putting them in line for a "payday". Guys from other sports should have to prove they merit a fight with a champion not just jump the queue however the reality is it's all about $$$.
