Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao Should've Tossed His Worthless WBA Belt In The Trash, Where It Belongs

By Keith Idec - LAS VEGAS - Manny Pacquiao struggled Wednesday to find the proper placement for his WBA welterweight championship belt. The Filipino legend eventually d****d it over his right shoulder as he and Yordenis Ugas, who owns the same WBA 147-pound crown, posed for photos following their press conference at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Pacquiao should've dumped it in the nearest trash can, Rid**** Bowe style, because that's where worthless WBA belts belong after years of objectionable behavior.

I was thinking why does Ugas have a belt with him. I don't keep on tabs with the Boxing bullsh*it. Pacquiao to beat him soundly on Saturday and Ugas to be elevated to super champion in 7/8 months from now

I agree. I would have loved Manny to have done what Rid**** Bowe did before. Manny doesn't need a WBA belt as his legacy is more than any sanctioning body belt.

Crawford needs to throw his trinket in the trash and fight Ortiz Taylor and Tszyu. F**** the belts.

But when Vasily Lomachenko got the Franchise Championship Belt, this same idiot writer didn’t have a problem then because of Lomachenko complexion.

Yes, of course, I've heard it before.

It's been 50 years of writing against the alphabet gangs now. The IBF was considered shìt in 1983 and now is perhaps the most respected organization. Let's dump this, let's ignore that, let's not rate their belts, blah blah blah....

But they're still there, increasing the number of titles by the week, fattening their bank accounts while pretending to "care" for the fighters, and no one ever will change this status quo.

As I said elsewhere, this stuff reminds me of the invitations to the powers that be to "solve" the world's major problems. Which of course are becoming worse for every minute that elapses.

A cancer is a cancer. And yet, boxing still survives. One way or another.

"As the most acclaimed active boxer in the sport, Pacquiao missed an opportunity to send the most meaningful message possible to the brazen bandits who’ve made a complete mockery of this sport’s fundamentally flawed sanctioning process."

I concur, and I agree with Gibbons, should've said "Thanks, but no thanks!"

Boxing "survives" purely on a business basis because the fact is that's all professional boxing is; a business.

Unfortunately the promoters, managers and fighters have all.bought into the idea that these "sanctioning bodies" are part of, and important to, their business.

But, when discussing realistic alternative scenerios, what's the solution?

Tbh, I can't come up with one that "works"!

I, for one, believe that there's a lot of money laundering behind the façade of multiple title fights. That would be one of the reasons why things not only never change, but get worse.

In essence, there's no "working" solution because boxing simply adapts to how the world "works" in a given moment of history. Right now we're at an all-time low on a sociopolitical and economic level worldwide. Boxing just reflects that. Grab money where you can, who gives a damn about ethics and rectitude?

Maros Antonio Barrera did a couple of fights without a title. He said that he was established enough and the match up was good enough that it didn't need a title with all their politics and sanctioning fees. A fighter with Pac's standing in boxing doesn't need bogus titles to legitimize the fight.
