He looked great for the first half though, that's the thing. You know how I'm a believer of how fighters can look great in a loss and have their stock raise from a "good loss?" well, this was a "bad win." And because of how boxing is, had he gotten rocked at the beginning, held for the first three rounds and them dominated the last half of the fight, nobody would even remember it.

Also, I didn't see the post fight, but I read on twitter that he said that he doesn't have to fight Lomachenko because Lopez beat him, and if he said that in the post fight that's probably the dumbest possible thing you could say, minutes after fighting Jorge Linares. Overall, gonna need some PR.

I disagree. Fans are ultimately the lifeblood of the sport and the reason there is money to pay fighters.

If a boxer wants to be in demand then it's important to give the paying customers a reason to keep coming back to see him.

Haney was entertaing to watch yesterday for 80% of the fight. Why not keep that and just fix the mistakes that got him into trouble at the end?

He's still a boy, he'll get his manpower soon but he's never going to be a big puncher. Like Floyd even Rigondeaux (don't get me wrong he can crack). I am not tuning in to see a brawl & them taking silly risks just to please fans who won't show any appreciation anyway.
I want to see the sweet science like I seen for the first 7-8 rounds, flawless crisp beautiful boxing.

The kid needs to accept he isn't blessed with power & stick to what he does best and box. Stop trying so hard too impress.

I thought he boxed beautifully he adjusted for no real reason other than to try put a statement on it and gave Linares every opportunity. He said he wasn't hurt, he clearly was and his legs wasn't under him for some time but I liked what I seen and his ability to tie up, buy some time just see out the next round. Smart but then it became a hideous clinch fest.
God that was ugly and boring and probably ended up hurting his stock despite ticking almost every box prior.
It went from being a masterclass to needless ******ity.
I think if he just stuck to what he was doing he'd have got more credit fans would have said ok well nobody has ever outboxed Linares like that, he made him look like Brandon Rios or something but then he gets carried away. Maybe its good he showed some vulnerability & they will now get in the ring with him.

Just box, keep winning, they'll tune in even if it is in hope you lose.

Credit to Linares, it was way wider than the scores suggested but he was in incredible shape.
Like WTF was those scorecards? I literally gave Linares 2 rounds, 3 max.
well said, if he stayed doing what he was doing instead of staying in the pocket and trading not only would he of likely not been clipped most of us would be using words like Clinique.

Haney is not very heavy handed at 135 he is best thinking hard about who he is going to go toe to toe with. And I think i agree with everybody else, his dad needs to go.

Stop trying to please the fans? Lmao Who df do you think pays for these events? People want to see action packed fights, not boring ass marathons or hugfests.

He doesn't have the power to keep guys honest. What you saw was a portent to what's coming when he faces someone with power and a chin to match. He ain't beating no Teofimo. Gervonta will annihilate this kid.

He couldn’t finish the fight the way he started it. That’s all. Nobody likes seeing anyone fight the last two rds the way he did after seeing how rds 1-10 were.

I don’t think he got careless, Linares just isn’t a bum and never stopped trying. Haney is going to get cracked, it’s part of the sport.

He was. Linares from just a few years ago finishes the job for sure. Jorge was throwing the right counters all night long, he was just an eyelash too slow until the tenth. Then the old guy didn't have enough left to get the kill when he finally hurt him.
