It was ignored because it was a random quote with no link. You already yourself admitted that MMA has more young fans now you're disagreeing with yourself?

Since you're back here, i'll ask you again. If YT views, IG, FB, Twitter etc numbers are no gauge of popularity because boxing fans (allegedly) dont use them, why is it all those numbers spike when we see stuff like Fury/Wilder, AJ/Ruiz, Canelo/GGG etc? why will they spike when AJ/Fury happens? doesnt it seem a little weird that the absolute biggest fights and biggest stars in boxing DO pull numbers on those platforms when according to you the lack of interest the rest of the time isnt a genuine lack of interest but just boxing fans not using the internet?

I havent had chance to see the Navarrette fight yet but it isnt just about one fight, its the whole card.

Fight 1 - dude gets his leg chopped with a kick, which seems to cause immediate nerve damage making him unable to stand. In desperation mode hes basically one legged attempting to wrestle and actually has some success. Is a ****ing warrior in between rounds wanting to continue but ultimately it gets called off because he cant stand.

Fight 2: 17 seconds in dudes leg gets snapped in half.

Fight 3: Title fight, chick ragdolls other chick, controls her on the ground then repeatedly drops elbow on her bloody forehead like shes chopping an onion, TKO rd 2.

Fight 4: Another title fight, chick comes in as an underdog, wins the title by headkick KO in under 2 mins.

Main event: Yet another title fight, dude who hasnt been stopped since 2008 laughs and smirks in the face of a wrestler attempting to strike with him. 10 seconds later hes on the canvas COMPLETELY knocked the **** out.

And thats just the main card....

Its the whole package - the holy **** moments, the talking points, the stacked cards, the presentation, the production values, the loud rowdy crowds etc, theres just an energy and sense of scale and spectacle to it that boxing only matches very infrequently. And the UFC has nights like these several times a year, you only have to go back to 259 last month which also had 3 world title fights on it. The only times boxing has that kind of buzz is when theres a big Fury, AJ or Canelo fight and even then its the not same as people being hyped for a whole night of fights.

That card really epitomised why MMA has taken over, once people started being equally exposed to both it was only a matter of time.

Boxing is the 2nd most popular sport in the world among young people, according to research from GWI. In a series that charts the growth of today’s sporting markets, boxing came second, thanks largely to a boost in interest and an engagement among young adults who are increasingly following the sport in large numbers. It’s no surprise that football or soccer was the number one hobby for people throughout the world. Its dominance doesn’t appear as if it will lag anytime soon.

Ah yes an article on world boxing news citing some unspecified research done by something called the GWI absolutely *****s all those PPV numbers, social media numbers and YT views repeatedly indicating that more people are paying attention to the UFC than anything else.

Like, seriously...what fight was going on in boxing this weekend anywhere in the world that was bigger than UFC 261? in fact what boxing match this YEAR was bigger? i'm honestly intrigued what these boxing matches are that are happening somewhere on the planet that are apparently astronomically big and yet somehow also completely obscure with no real numbers indicating large scale interest.
