That is bull****. They should never expect Green to go below something like 165-166. I can see why Pavlik is wary about fighting over 160 right now, but fair is fair. Leave Green out of the mix then.

Pavlik fought well at 165 in the second Taylor fight so there is no reason why he cannot do it again. Make the fight at 166 so Green has life in him still, then Pavlik would get a fight. Maybe too much of a fight.


I think Green is truly ready to step up right now and will be a hard nut to crack. I think he is coming into his own and has a left hook that could knock out anyone below 175.

Yeah, but then people will be saying that **** of how he isn't defending his title. And Green cannot beat Pavlik no matter what weight this fight happens at. If Pavlik took this fight at a higher weight, he would probably have to concede more money because his belts wouldn't be on the line and the sanctioning body crooks would make him pay a fee regardless. Kelly Pavlik is caught between a rock and a hard place for sure. I'm still pulling for him in either of these two fights, but I think the fight w/ Hard Nard took something out of him mentally. Couple this with the horrendous performance against Rubio, and it seems that Pavlik is going to need a miracle, come October. Green is too big/strong, and P.Will makes him look B-level.

Williams is a fool not to take this fight. Despite his humiliating loss to Hopkins Pavlik is still considered the man at 160 in the US. Williams owns 147-154 but hasnt solidified himself at 160. Beat down Pavlik and that puts you in a great position going forward. Pavlik doesnt really want to fight Williams.. thats why its such a hard stance for the gate money but Williams should be smart and say, Ok. Ill whup that ass for 1.5M.. then he takes all Pavliks future paydays. Pavlik only has a punchers chance against Williams.. unlike Miranda and Taylor.. Agreed. It's making people pick sides. Both Pavlik and Williams are both stand up dudes. I doubt either are ducking each other. It's just that it takes more than the fighters agreeing to the fight. It's all this other bull****.

It is worth pointing out that Pavlik is the Champion at 160 and looked kinda bad TWICE at higher weights. So why the hell would he fight a no name at 166 0r 168 and risk it. I've watched a lot of boxing and Hearns is the only power I've ever seen like Pavlik's at 160 (Hagler WAS better but he was better as a chin, not as a puncher). With that said, Pavlik damn sure needs to fight someine that will actually fight back. I like the Williams fight because I think Williams will punch enough to keep Pavlik from his resets - a terrible habit he developed after the Taylor fights. He didn't do that with Miranda or Taylor the first time. Then that was ALL he did against Hopkins. Reset, get punched, reset again, get punched again. Maybe a busy guy like Williams will wake him up.
