An interesting aspect to the negotiations of this fight is whether or not Cotto is going to re-sign with Arum. If Pacquiao is offering a 65-35 split in his favor, Cotto may not feel like re-signing with Arum for that fight is worth it. That's why to me, talks about this fight are just hot air. I need to see signed contracts before I believe it. We know Pacquiao is a tough negotiator, and we had to go through a lot of craziness in the negotiation process of his fight with Hatton.

I beleive that the outcome of this fight might determine whether or not Cotto stays with Arum.

Regarding the split i think that Cotto won't create to many issues with that because what we could had read between the lines Arum has a "great proposal for Pacquiao" after meeting with Cotto. which to me means that Pacman would get his 14 Mil (he has asked for more that what he made with Hatton (12 mil) and Cotto wil get something from 8 to 10Mil. Being that Arum will not have to co-promote the fight, he will control all the income revenue from sponsors, ppv etc.. and could probably please both fighters.

Who should be rated higher is a matter of opinion. Who is rated higher is not. Both The Ring and boxrec, which are by far the two most respected independent rating bodies in the sport, rate Mosley at #1. There are arguments both ways, but the only way to settle it is for the rematch to happen.

Arum is usually full of S*** but he's right on this one. NO DOUBT Cotto brings more money and fans then SSM.

Mosley needs to fight somebody before they find him walking on the highway in his draws with a large caliber weapon.
                ****ing hilarious!!!!!!!

Bob is terible for boxing... He is right about Cotto bringing more money in NEW YORK.

Mosley is not a huge ppv guy but he is more fit for the westcoast Las Vegas market... also take into account that Mosley offered a direct 40-60 split with no negotiation even taking place (he might have gone much lower as desperate as he sounds).

Bob is just trying to keep money in top rank! Nobody ever thought of putting Cotto and Pacman in the ring together until Bob opened his ****** mouth. Now he is going to get Pac killed. Pac should fight JMM at Junior WW and retire. Real boxing critics know he hasn't even been tested at WW. DLH was a joke fight. Wait until Pac feels Miguel's fist hit his abdomen. His face is gonna churn as if he just ate something sour and rancid like Corley did. LOL. I admire Pac, but I disagree with him trying to fight a WW. Look at Duran and what happened when he went up to fight the bigger Leonard/Hearns/Hagler..... doesn't it all sound too familiar. It's going to be the great little guy versus the great bigger guy in all scenarios. Mosley/Cotto/Mayweather are going to show him what real WW's are made of.

I agree that it's a matter of opinion and i knew that you were making reference to Ring and Boxrec, however opinions should be based on facts and results and clearly in WW for the last 3 years Cotto has clearly, with out a doubt has the better record and ko ration than Mosley, now if we are going to rate them as a boxer not a WW than there's clearly a strong arguement for both boxers but an 7 and 1 with 5 ko's is by far better than a 2 and 1 with 1 ko in the same time period and especially if that 1 defeat is against the guy you are being compared to.

So Cotto isn't taking Emmanuel Steward's offer to train him? He probably doesn't feel like paying him the money he's worth.

Cotto's overall record at WW is better, but he lost his #1 ranking when he lost to Marg, and once you've lost it, it's hard to get it back. Although there's a huge question mark over that fight, there's no proof. And Mosley looked more impressive against Marg than he's done for many years, which makes many people think that he's been rejuvenated. Given how close the first Cotto-Mosley fight was, and given that Mosley has apparently returned to his best form since then, a lot of people, including many boxing experts, think Mosley would be the favourite to win a rematch, rightly or wrongly.

To get his rating back, he'll have to beat Mosley, that's all there is to it (unless Mosley loses to someone else first). And that would also create a new lineal champion, which is what boxing needs.
