What great boxers do is defend their titles against the best possible opposition. Which Cotto is doing. Clottey >> Judah. Mosley in the first fight >> Judah. And Cotto tried to rematch Mosley this June.

Are you saying that when a belt is vacant, great boxers should refuse to fight for it, simply because it's vacant? If so, that's ridiculous. What matters is who they defend against after they win the belt, and whether they beat all the top contenders.

Dave, stop trying to sell me the magic beans brother. All the greats
throughout boxing history have beaten other champions as well as
fought for vacant titles. Are you trying to tell me when Boxing
historians look back at Miguel Cotto's career that it won't play
a factor? Come on man, Cotto fought for Williams vacant title,
the one Paul left because he couldn't get a fight at 147 and he
fought Michael Jennings for it? Everyone else is winning titles
from champions why does Cotto get a pass from not doing the
same? Yes he is defending them from the contenders but he is
not winning them from the champs. People stay ragging on Floyd
but how could I put Cotto over Floyd when Floyd has done it all?
Cotto is a good fighter but he ain't getting no pass from me until
he is a complete fighter.

If 75-25 is the case Fanny Pac should fight the guys at 140 instead on making WW's boil down.

Where as if Arum really wanted that fight for Cotto bad enough he could've made it when Williams was still fighting at 147 instead of having Cotto fight a UK creampuff. People could discredit a possible Pacquiao victory over Shane by using a weight drain excuse as well. I've mentioned this before and Ring would automatically rank Williams at #2 if he scheduled a fight at 147.

him & counter him whenever he misses. I felt the same about
Margarito, all you had to do is neutralize his pressure by stopping
his aggression, stay defensive and you can beat him. Bottomline
Margarito's pressure game *****ed Cotto's, Margarito was just too
big, aggressive and strong for Cotto to be dominate style
wise.
