Manny really has improved through these couple of years. It showed in the Diaz, De La Hoya, and Hatton fight, he don't just stand there like before, he's slick, he now counters(every now and then). I give him props, he's an exciting guy to watch.

manny was a counter puncher during jmm what do you think that constant side to side head movement is for?

I noticed something during the 2nd fight of Pacquiao and Marquez.

Whether its because of Roach teaching him to counter punch or its because of Manny's experience fighting Morales and Marquez, Pacquiao can now counter punch.

Example 1: Counterpunching the Counterpuncher

Pacquiao faked a jab and as soon as Marquez started countering with a left hook, Pacquiao ducked and threw a huge left of his own. Perfect. Common during Pacquiao's sparring session but rare during his actual fights.

When Marquez moves forward, Pacquiao backpedals for a counterpunch.


Example 3: Right Hook Counterpunching



In past interviews, Pacquiao said he practiced counter-punching (during Diaz, De la Hoya, Hatton training). So By the time he reaches Hatton, it was so automatic, that when Hatton telegraph his left punch, Pacquiao countered with his right hook roll under move, EVEN BEFORE HATTON PUNCH.

That's almost the same move with Marquez only in reverse. This means only one thing, Pacquiao can now counter punch with both hands.

That reminds me of De la Hoya. He thinks he can counter Pacquiao, but was shocked to find out that Manny has fought better counter-punchers.

manny did counter punch well against marquez, but as far as de la hoya dude hardly even swing so what was he counterpunching, diaz, guy comes at u straight everything u throw is a counterpunch and im not even gonna mention hatton cuz that should be obvious to anyone that knows boxing, with that said manny doesnt need to be a counterpuncher because he is just so.. fast.
