If Floyd wants to fight at 147, why not just fight a WW?

And speaking of divisions, if a division says "147" why are fighters coming in 10+ pounds over that?
Maybe you havent heard, but many fighters fight at a catch-weight, and since this is only a "tune-up" fight, I dont see what's the problem.

I think Floyd reads this forum and is just at this point, doing stuff to piss you off for a quick laugh. That's my guess.

Floyd just turned 32, has never taken hardly any damage in the ring, and has just had a nice little rest. Are you insinuating that he's not in his prime?

Benny are you honestly campaigning for a same-day weigh-in here? Back to the 'good' old days of Ray Mancini and Dok Koo Kim?

Nah. He's satisfied with knowing that he has Bscene guardian angels like yourself who run to his defense like a highschool girl with a crush everytime something unfavorable is mentioned about him.

A "REAL" fight fan would want to see this fight take place at a weight that would be fair to both fighters, and give them both an equal chance of performing at their best without sacrificing too much weight.

Lets take a look at Marquez. He's had no fights at 140 or 147, only 2 fights at 135, 3 fights at 130, and the rest of his career took place at 126.

Floyd has spend the majority of his career at 130, has had 4 fights at 135, 3 fights at 140, and the rest at 147-154.

Now Marquez has went on the record to say that he's willing to move up to 140 (a weight class that he's never fought at) in order to make this fight happen.

Floyd is unwillling to budge and is demanding the fight take place at 147. Meanwhile all u hear from his fanboyz is how he's not a natural WW, and should not even be fighting there, yet in this case, they are defending his decision to fight at WW.

Now who's being unreasonable here? Floyd's reluctance to comprimise is going to rob us "real fans" of a potentially great fight between 2 of the sports best technicians.

First of all, Mayweather has not called out anybody. He's still retired last time I checked.JMM called out Mayweather. So where are you getting that Mayweather "wants to fight JMM?" You have that backwards as usual. Manny Pacquiao is the biggest money fight out there for Mayweather. Does it really need to be explained to you why Mayweather would choose that fight?(if he does) And Pacquiao has already shown he can fight at that weight.

people will cut weight no matter the day of the weigh in.

cutting weight is common practice for every single sport that has weight classes be it judo , kickboxing , wrestling , jiu-jitsu , boxing......

people will do it. same day or even ringside weighins will not change that.

i'd rather give them more time in between the weigh in and the fight than less. at least it gives them time to rehydrate. it's better for the fighter's healths and they'll be in better shape to perform.

I think it's only fair for whoever Floyd fights to fight him at 147. You wanna get credit for beating the best AT his best. What's the point of dropping pounds to give the other fighter the advantage? If Marquez can't make 147 comfortably, don't take the fight. Manny has proven he can make 147 with no problem and can still perform at a high level.

If Manny and Floyd fight, it has to be at 147.

The talks between Floyd's camp and Golden Boy Promotions / Marquez's camp have apparently and recently bogged down, if not, downright appear over. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. insists on fighting at the 147 lbs. welterweight limit, while the 135 lbs. champ Marquez is currently holding his ground to hold the bout at the 140 lbs. junior welterweight limit.
