If Floyd wants to fight at 147, why not just fight a WW?

I dont understand. He's firm on his decision to make his next fight at 147, yet wants a LW to come up from 135 to 147. Now this thread isnt about hate. Its about common ***ing sense! Why not just take on a credible WW if he's dead set on making his next fight at 147?

yea I agree according to Marv Dumon for houston boxing examiner "At 147 lbs., I would have to consider Mayweather (at least) a very strong 4-1 favorite over Marquez, who has never fought above the 135 lb. lightweight limit. Marquez may be a higher volume puncher than the lower quantity, but more effective, puncher Mayweather, however, the shots that do land on a bloated Marquez would probably have a much more significant effect.
At 140 lbs., however, Mayweather vs. Marquez would indeed be a bona fide mega-fight. At this weight, we would have to consider Marquez as having a "solid chance" at defeating Mayweather, who would have to drain his body below an otherwise more normal weight of 147 - 154 lbs. I been sayin this all along homey. Mr boat buyer got an identity crisis or sumthin. SSM got woman issues at the moment, and he needs coin. Gotta believe a deal could be worked out between these 2 right now. If Mr boat buyer is gonna come back at all he needs to go for the WW title.

Well, put it this way, if Pacquiao goes up 12lbs to fight at WW, I don't see how JMM can't do it. DLH - Pacquiao compared to JMM - PBF. Now that I think about it more, I don't see a problem with JMM having to move up anymore.

I'd rather him face JMM who is ranked 2nd P4P and honestly, which WW would bring in more money then JMM right now? I know Shane, but after a layoff...that ain't a fight Floyd should take. This fight should be at a catch weight of 143

Just because Pac was succesfull at doing it, doesnt mean JMM will be. Pac is a freak of nature in regards to his physique. lets not also forget that Marquez is 37yrs old.

Its because he has no plans on fighting any legit welters…he’s gonna try to drag his smaller targets up to 47…he might convince JMM to do it because Marquez just might have the balls to go up there….but if/when PAC dismisses Hatton, he’s gonna get punked into fighting that bout at 40

i think there's more to it than just floyd should fight a WW... floyd needs to fight a legitimate foe w/ a good fan base or else he'll have no leverage against pac in the negotiations.

jmm is the only tune up with a solid fanbase (the messicans).
