The belts (including the WBO) carries significance for Joe Average as he gets spun into the web created by broadcasters marketing departments convinging poor Mr. Average that he should buy this particular fight as it is a CHAMPIONSHIP fight and hence world class boxing.
I only check Ring now, if I go to an abc website to view they're rankings I'm immediately bracing myself for laughter. I'm afraid they're all bad for it, the sport is poor on ranking, mandatories and such. The IBO and Ring are the best going and that says something.

Btw, I fancy a punt on my boy PW for 10k, would rather line the pockets of someone I respect, sig it?

the WBO has had alot of worthy champions so i don't know what are you talking about.

wba is much worst and the ibf basically don't do **** in boxing.the wbo expands his titles around the world, not only in the US.

i don;t even have to mention the wbc.

but i agree, they should take all the titles and leave the ring.
The IBF has the best mandatories in boxing. as shown by their tournameants determining who deserves a title shot.

the WBO has had its share of good fighters, but overall they are by far the worst.

and now theyre probebly going to make the Barrera-Khan fight a title fight, despite the fact that Barrera has 0 credible wins at 135 and Khan got knocked out by a mid level fighter in the first round not too long ago. what a joke.

The WBO has no historical significance, has the worst mandatories, makes the worst decisions, and overall has the worst champions. its a worthless belt, and I dont consider it a legitimate title belt anymore.

There all rubbish, remember all that stuff with Roy Jones vacating then wanting his belt back it might have been the WBC? and them almost going bankrupt over it because the fighter they installed after Roy Jones vacated got demoted back down to mandatory?

WBO also seems to favour warren, there was alot of controversy over Don King and one of the belts at one time. The IBF installed a dead guy as there champion once as well. I may have gotten all of those belts mixed up but all those events happened with one or the other of the 4 belts

can they at least do their job?
Explain Beyer (WBC) Ottke (IBF) then.

yeah its pretty disgusting that they are picking that fight over the JMM-Diaz fight as the title fight. or have they really picked that fight yet? I don't know. JMM-Diaz makes the most sense for the wbo title.

the IBF had a dead guy as champ? I never heard of that before.

but the WBO moved a dead guy up 2 spots in their rankings.
The WBO twice moved Darrin Morris up in its super-middleweight rankings in 2001, despite the fact that he was dead. Morris was #7 at the time of his death and #5 when the WBO discovered the error. Varcarcel said "we obviously missed the fact that Darrin was dead. It is regrettable." One week after British newspaper The Independent broke the story, one of the three men ranking the boxers, Gordon Volkman, still had not heard that Morris was dead.[1]

No stain on Lewis as he was a truly great fighter, but the thought of him picking that WBC belt out of the bin Rid**** Bowe had just tossed it in pretty much sums the ethos of this thread up!

Exactly, they're all as bad as each other, there's tonnes of things like this across the board.

The WBA look quite profoundly corrupt at the moment, with there own staff not picking up on the dodgy wraps, signing them insisting there ok.

                    Deffo a worthless belt.

Take a look at some Eubank's defences besides his fights with Watson and Benn.
