****m Richardson, The best trainer around?

I honestly think Richardson is one of, if not the best trainers around. His ability to observe a fighters weakness, and create a gameplan around it is unrivaled IMO. He takes underdogs and makes them winners.

    Hopkins-Trinidad
    Hopkins-Tarver
    Hopkins-Pavlik
    Mosley-Margarito

All fights where an underdog kicked the crap out of the favourite, and 2 of the wins were by KO. Can anyone else think of other examples where he made the underdog the winner?

Also, thoughts on him as a trainer?

He may not be the best trainer, but he is the best at drawing plans for fights!!!!!!

I know he can't take all the credit. But there's no doubt (IMO) that Richardson has helped them both a lot. Look at Hopkins without Richardson, then with him. To me, he looks a lot better with Richardson. I just think the way he can create a gameplan based on fighters weaknesses is awesome, I never saw Hopkins doing what he did to Pavlik (I expected a much closer fight), or what Shane did to Margarito (I expected Marg to win by UD).

another reason calzaghe is ducking a hopkins rematch. with ****m in his corner and freddie not being able to screw it up this time hopkins would whoop calzaghe even worse.

Yea, that's what I mean. I guess you might be able to find another guy that can get you in shape better, but I doubt you will find many, if any guys who are as good at creating game plans.

good observation, although they post was about making gameplans for undergods - not creating stars.

if richardson is the man behind the plan - then yes i'd say he is a great at doing so.

One of the best IMO, he's one of the best at devising a gameplan for his fighters and his instructions in the corner is normally really good, really calm, clear and constructive, very, very good trainer.

Richardson is my favorite trainer out there. His ability to study a fighter's flaws and come up with a gameplan to exploit them is unrivaled right now, IMO.

Aside from Hopkins, he doesn't train anybody else on the big stage. That's why he's been so underrated for so long, in my view.

Guys like Freddie Roach and Emmanuel Steward who train multiple guys at a time, somehow end up getting all the glory. But really, I ask you, which of the three would you rather have in your corner?

Also, you gotta love Richardson always looking out for his fighter. He raised concern about Margarito's illegal wraps, and may have saved Shane from getting really hurt in there. Back in 2001 he did the same thing with Trinidad's wraps for Hopkins.

Oh, and T, do a search for threads created by me in NSB. Find my Richardson tribute thread, I think you'll enjoy it.
