Cotto didn't look for a way out of the fight he had nothing left to give in that fight. Even after he took the first knee in the corner he came back and fired a few shot before Margarito landed another big shot that backed him up into the corner again. he was ahead on some cards and I had him ahead in the fight 96-95 before the 11th round. I am not a Cotto nuthugger as Shane is my favrorite fighters but I don't even consider myself biased towards Shane. I just love boxing period. To see that fight and say that Cotto quit just lets me be aware of your narrow minded view of the world. the man went 11 rounds and was winning most of them with one of the toughtest muthas in the sport. There is no quit in Cotto at least not from what Ihave seen from him thus far.....Lefty
I wouldn't call him a quitter, he didn't ***** out by any means. He did take a knee though and to a lot of old school guys, they look down upon that.
Maybe Cotto is smarter for it, I don't know but he did take the knee non the less.

I do not know for sure what I would have done in that position but I am not him and looking at the fight over and over again i see the body shots he was taking all night and the uppercuts he took square to his chin. He had to be hurt and tired to the point where he could protect himself rathe then take a clean flush punch he took a knee only after he was clearly hurt by those upper cuts and over hand rights from Margarito. The fact that I myself saw the lunishment he was taking and he is down for a rematch after the first fight leaves me to belive he is no quitter and the knee doesnt change the way I view Miguel Cotto......Lefty
I think so, there's something about taking a knee that is a no no in boxing, especially to the old school fighters.

I thought Cotto fought very well, but i was left in awe of Margrito. I didnt believe anyone could do that to Cotto.

Who knows what was running through his head when he dropped to one knee? Maybe he thought if he could get through the round he could make it throught the 12th? We can never be sure what he was thinking but watching that fight on Sunday night again courtesy of HBO On Demand i see he was badily hurt and maybe on eor two punches away from being perminately damaged. The knee may have looked bad to some but live to fight another day in some others view....Lefty

QUITTING is when your a jr. middleweight, fighting a 130 pounder, and you refuse to come out for the 9th round!! Or throw yourself on the ring floor from a phanton left hook, just because your opponant is bigger than you, while you have been fighting smaller fighters all you career!!! NOW THAT'S QUITTING!!!!! AND YOU LOOSE A LOT OF FANS THAT WAY. LOL
