Cotto is still my favorite fighter. Look forward to spending more of my hard earned money to see him fight live.

Boxing overall is in a decline. For Pacquiao and JMMs press conferences leading up to their fight some venues were almost completely empty.

This is a bait thread man, it's clear as day Cotto DIDN'T quit. he took 2 knees due to exhaustion and got up after which HIS UNCLE steps up and stops it, he doesn't dispute it and respects his corners choice, it's clear as day but ignorance will always find a way to show it's ugly face somehow, they think everyone has to be Vitali or Zab and tear **** up when they stop it.. he was obviously winded and trying to regain himself which is why he collapsed to 1 knee without even being punched. he took it to pro long time at the cost of a loss in points and he rose up once again to continue, had the corner not stepped in the ref would have allowed it to continue and he would have kept fighting but HIS UNCLE felt he saw enough. it's on HBO On Demand right now man check that whole sequence and you'll see he purposely took those knees to regain himself and on the second one AFTER GETTING UP AGAIN his unlce steps up with the towel and stopped it, not even the ref but the uncle cuz the ref would have allowed him to continue and at least try tried to get a draw or suttin.. Bottomline to say Cotto quit is bull**** dogz I done sat threw that fight too many times to say he quit because a QUITTER doesn't stay in long enough to recieve that kind of damage, he walks away before anything but Cotto just used his smarts in a tough time, he took the knees and halted an attack for at least 20-25 full seconds and believe it or not that is a lot for a fighter in that shape.. you didn't quit when you still looking for ways of survival, that's what he was doing when he kept taking those knees, he was looking to contain his exhaustion and that's what it took but he got up again dogz that fact remains evident..

even at 147 cotto doesnt want any piece of floyd. FACT.

IM NOT HATING. IM JUST TELLING U THE TRUTH.
Cotto is not a quitter, he was defeated in the ring, FACT.
Cotto/Floyd ducking is all a matter of opinion as far as we are concerned, we dont have all the facts so you lose pretty much all credibility calling that fact.

Sorry to break it for you, but Cotto admitted he quit and it wasn't his corners call but his as he talks in this interview and I respect Cotto for manning up just wished he would have stayed for the post fight interview then run off.

F that!! I'm still a fan. That's the first thing i said then Cotto lost. "*****, Cotto's still dope in my book". Margarito is tough, what can you say.

Those are call bandwagon fans. As soon as a fighter wins..."OH that's my fighter!!" I give Margarito mad props, but i'm not really a fan per se.

Cotto was winning that fight. He panicked when Margarito kept coming forward.

And there's a BIG difference between quitting and surrendering.

Samuel Peter quit. DLH quit. Roberto Duran quit. Sonny Liston quit. Oliver McCall quit.

                  Miguel Cotto surrendered.

Cotto didn't quit. He was a spent bullet. He didn't need to get knocked out cold to satisfy people's blood lust. He did the best he could for as long as he could but just didn't have enough. He put up a great fight and would have beaten Mayweather or any other welter that night.

Wow, I have never seen that interview, thanks for posting it. What really stood out for me was the fact that he said the reason he took the knee was because he was scared for his health.

He said he wanted to see his wife and children and didn't want to have complications in the future. I will say this, I guess it's because I'm old school but a fighter cannot have that attitude. Boxing isn't like other sports where you can get hurt, recover and move on. This is a sport that people die in every year. Mancini said it best when he said every time he entered the ring he was willing to die before giving up.

I just don't think that Cotto has that in him and I don't think he will be able to withstand the second fight with Margarito if Margarito comes straight at him. I guess it's where you come from and the hunger you have inside of you. Cotto has never been the underdog in his life, he was bread for fighting and always been the "golden boy" so to speak.

Now he's a serious underdog and has that loss on his mind. It will interesting how he comes out of this mentally because Margarito right now has more hunger and confidence than he ever has in his career and I think it's because of the losses and struggles he had ealry on in his career.

That which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger........
