    It's understandable, I suppose.

I think that Hamed is somewhat underrated, because he was exceptionally talented, but obviously the way his career ended is a big negative.

I do agree that he was better than Gatti.

what i dont understand is why hamed is derided because his career in the spotlight ended with a decision loss to a future HoFer and one of this generations best boxers in barerra, while gatti gets little criticism for the way his career ended, a drubbing at the hands of a tv star.........

Hamed was exceptional at his peak - absolutely exceptional. As good as anything I've seen in the last 20 years.

The fact he lost his way in his last few fights shouldn't take away from that.

Not right, Naseem Hamed was one of the most entertaining chrasmatic boxing has ever saw and not just that, he was a fantastic talent who had you on the edge of your seat for all of his fights. He was EBU bantamweight champion, was undisputed featherweight champion ring number 1 at featherweight and made made 15 defences of his WBO title beating the likes of Kevin Kelley,Wilfredo Vazquez,Paul Ingle,Tom Johnson,Manuel Medina,Wayne McCullough he was also a pound for pound fighter and his only defeat aginst one of the greats of this era and future hall of famer Marco Antonio Barerra and i really do think Naz deserves to be in the HOF. Maybe his jail time hasn't helped who knows.
