the thing is mw division is more talented. think of it like in college football/basketball the mw division is SEC/PAC10 and the smw is the WAC. and if calzaghe can discredit pavlik win over hopkins we can do the same for his which he claimed was toughest fight of his career. i think hes trying to piss of boxing fans, hopefully for buildup.

I think the press is actually getting to him myself. He agrees to an interview, starts to talk about Kessler (his favorite pass time) instead of Jones. The interviewer, set back by these transpiring events, then mentions Pavlik and asks Joe why he is not fighting him instead. Joe then goes off in a tizzy wondering how Pavlik, a newbie on the scene, could dare steal his make belief thunder.

I agree Cal is hyping a future fight that might be a blockbuster in '09 like I said. We have to remember if Pac beats DLH then DLH should be done as an attraction and if both Cal and Pavlik win then Hop and RJJ should be also done. So realistically maybe the biggest fight of '09 if both win will be Cal-Pav at 175.

Joe is not interested in Pavlik in the least. He is trying to discredit Pavlik as a possible opponent before it becomes the obvious next step.

What is really getting to Joe is that many in England are asking for the fight also. Many are not satisfied in the least of his achievements so far and want Pavlik on his resume. Joe is busy trying to quash the idea now before Pavlik fights Hopkins, just in case Pavlik wins. He is even predicting a Pavlik "win" all of the sudden against the "old decrepid" Hopkins now, to further discredit Pavlik and to still claim Pavlik is unworthy.

His claim that Pavlik's team did not want him after the Lockett fight is a pure 100% lie!! Even Warren claimed he and Arum were making the fight until Joe dumped him.

Money talks in boxing and if Joe's still fighting next year and Pav beats Hop and starts generating big money no way this fight doesnt happen.

The only way Joe will fight Pavlik, is if Pavlik looks terrible against Hopkins. He might risk it then. My money is Joe walking away instead and retiring while claiming he "did it all and has nothing left to prove". Money does talk, but protecting the 0 will make him walk.

the more Roy Jones talks about the winner of this fight facing Tarver/ Dawson or Pavlik/ Hopkins the more pressure the media will put on Calzaghe to commit to the same. October 11th Dawson will call out Calzaghe and October 18th Pavlik will call him out too. The timing of these relevant fight will create so much more buzz. I see Kellerman wanting to see this fight to and takes jab at Joe as well.

You touched on something interesting there. Even if Joe were to fight and beat Pavlik, the Dawson bandwagon would start churning. Pavlik would become an overrated overhyped joke and we start over with "Dawson is the REAL deal, stop running Joe" threads.
