Joan Guzman hasn't always been a defensive fighter.

“I told Joan, I will not follow you into the ring. It’s not the right thing. It’s the wrong thing to do and I can’t go along with you on this. Your career is still brilliant. Your career will continue. But I must agree with the doctors that you cannot risk your life for one fight. If the doctors say you cannot go, I have to agree with them. We will move on from here.”

Yes, yes, I know he ****ed up, he added too much muscle from the strength training and the blame is on him, but some you guys are acting like he's Osama Bin Ladin. He ****ed up, moving up in weight, made a mistake, but he was game to fight despite being unhealthy. Cut him a bit of slack before assembling the lynch mob, he's no coward! He was a 2-1 favorite to win the fight and would have been a much needed payday for Guzman.
Guzman is a professional and not making weight is a disgrace whether or not he still wanted to fight.

Nate would've whupped that ass with or without guzman's weight problems, but for sure guzman would not have made it out of the ring with his 0 intact if he went in there dehydrated.

I don't give a flying **** if he wanted to or didn't want to fight. He is a professional who didn't do his job and............as a matter of fact, **** it. He will get whatever punishment he deserves.

Agree it is ever since he met Floyd Sr. I got no problems with the Guzman who fought Barrios and before but after seeing how Floyd Sr improved him...I was more confident in him winning. I won't deny that Guzman was more entertaining before Floyd Sr. got his hands on him but I still like to watch him.

Hey there watch your mouth. Never generalize unless you're a dumb person.

I considered JMM as Pac's biggest threat and no other. Guzman is a trying hard Mayweather wannabe who's far behind JMM's caliber. He's no coward be he sure is dumb to let his biggest opportunity slip away.

woah there, come down. He ****ed up and didn't make weight (going to new weight class, added too much muscle). He's not like Castillo or someone like that who has a history of this sort of thing. I'm sure he's more disappointed then anyone as he is not going to get that payday he really needs, no positive exposure or future fights with other top stars in the division, etc. I don't understand the hate for a guy who made a mistake. This sort of thing happens from time to time in boxing unfortunately, give the guy a break and see if he can redeem himself.

I agree that he is dumb for letting the biggest opportunity of his life slip away.. however, Guzman fights nothing like Mayweather and doesn't try to emulate him either.
                  Guzman's style is completely different.
