As far as the manager goes, of course he is going to make statements that portray his fighter as a sympathetic figure in this ordeal. You'd be foolish to not expect as much.

I'm also sure that his manager understood the ramifications of pulling a no-show less than three hours before they are to take the stage. If you do that, your career and future is far from "brilliant".

"decision not to fight was actually made by Mississippi commission doctors who said Guzman was too dehydrated after attempting to make the weight. Woodworth said Guzman was -- upstairs in tears -- after the doctor told him his fate. "

How noble of him wanting to fight when he was closer to the junior welterweight limit in a lightweight fight. I mean bravo. Much props. We should all respect him more.

Point is people were calling him a coward which I think is unfair since they all lack important information.

Sure, be pissed he didn't make weight and added too much muscle or whatever, but I think it's unfair to label him as a coward and the treatment on this board is a bit to harsh, imo.

Just to let you know, Boxing C O N FI you know what site I mean is owned by Guzman's publicist. Are you seriously taking that as The Word my man?

It's all Pac fans who view him as the biggest threat to many who are saying all this ****.
They hate and envy what they fear...

Yep agree. Defensive fighters scare them.

I'm aware of that. I think the quote of nunez (where it came from) is real for sure. I also linked to seattlepi. We should still wait for further info.

Bottom line is of course it's disappointing....I've been a big guzman believer since I first saw him and was confident in him getting the win. I just feel people are being waaaaay too harsh though.

                  EDIT
                  ESPN article as well:

It wasn't until 7:30 p.m. ET that Guzman, bailed out by a sick note from Mississippi commission Dr. Lance Barnes, officially notified Don King and Showtime that he would not be fighting.

yeah, it kinda reminds me of back when Mayweather fans were dissing the **** out of Cotto (and margarito, etc.).

Funny thing is I'm a huge Pacquiao fan too

This is pretty contradictory to every significant report from reliable sources that I have read so far. I don't really believe it.
