Before he fight Calzaghe, he was ripping through decent and fairly good opponents like they were nothing. Calzaghe was at least two levels above him and beat him into a pulp.

Before he fight Calzaghe, Lacy Jeff was a fighter full of confidence and carried himself well. After Calzaghe he lost that confidence.

Calzaghe, took lot away from Lacy.

He wasn't ripping through them like they were nothing at all. Are you serious? Did you see his fights with Rubin Williams and Syd Vanderpool? Or are you just talking?

I've been a huge fan of his from day 1. Mostly because he fights out of my hometown so I always try to support local talent. As he rose through the ranks I noticed how fun he was to watch and was always in exciting fights......There was a time I thought he was so ferocious that he was unstoppable but anyone who knows anything about Boxing can plainly see he's not the most talented guy in the world. I will continue to support him and cheer him on win or lose but I do have to admit Calzaghe shocked his ass and might have ruined him mentally.....IMO the jury is still out on that, he's been injured and inactive since then so you have to cut the guy a little slack but there should be no excuses if he has yet another poor outing against Taylor.

He looked special on his way up prior to Joe..
He was tearing through mans and destroyed robin reid
who aint been beaten like that before thats when i thought Lacy might
be something special cuz no one had beaten reid in that manor before.
Yeh reid aint nothing special but he was still half decent and to get
blown away like that i thought Lacy would go a long way...

As for me Lacy had a great left hook but Joe did show everyone the blue print on how to beat him or atleast you can neutrilize his weapon. he doesn't have the talent to adjust and his skills have not diminished just they were never as good as he wa supoposed to be. his heart and chin cannot be suspect after that fight he kept on trying even though he was getting put on him really bad.

Robin Reid wasn't any great shakes to begin with and he was past it when Lacy fought him.

He struggled mightily with Rubin Williams who is even worse. And I thought Syd Vanderpool was winning until Lacy cornered him.

With all due respect, he just wasn't that good. He wasn't good before, he's even worse after.

having recently re-watched the Pemberton fight you could see he was a limited fighter but nonetheless Calzaghe's clinic shocked the American boxing public, I suspect most of those bitching about Joe picked Lacy to knock him out. Give credit where's it's due, Lacy has never been the same since April 2006.

Lacy IMO wasn't a big name until he fought Joe and Joe wasn't a big name until he fought Lacy.

Both made names off of each other. Lacy was just too young and had a perfect style for Joe to beat. Never cared for either Calzaghe or Lacy.

IMO neither one will be remembered for anything special other than fighting each other nothing more and nothing less....

20 years down the road it will be a covo as goes....

You remember that one guy Joe Calzaghe,
yeah wasn't he that one guy that fought that other guy, what was his name?
                  Lacy or something????
yeah it was Jeff Lacy, they fought each other and calzaghe won
                  O yeah... hmmm to bad.....

                  Moral to the story!
No will remember and could care less.......

Lacy was not quite as good as he was hyped up to be.

He was a relatively worthy belt holder.

He was always going to be far from Calzaghes level.

He's not as bad as many ppl now make out.

Many don't think Taylor will beat him as bad as Joe did. So I find a double standard really. Taylor will beat him but not as much as Calzaghe did.

Lacy lost some of his killer instinct post that loss, but has gained a little in boxing ability, allbeit not much. So I don't see any major change in his level now, probably slightly lower than he was though.
