It's funny, what with NSB being 70% American, how people try and make out that Roy and Hopkins had semi decent ledgers.
All three of these guys will go down as "legendary" fighters after fighting......... what???
I give Roy credit for Toney and possibly two or three others. It still cracks me up how people talk about how this guy is an all-time P4P great. Mainly noob fans. How can you justify that if he hasn't showcased his roidy skills against anyone of note? I mean, I look like Muhammad Ali when I'm shadowboxing in the shower, you know what I mean?
Most of these guys spent their whole career fighting mediocre competition. Joe's comp is nowhere near as bad as the average dunderhead on here likes to make out (what most idiots don't realise is that a lot of the guys he fought were actually world champions at one point and that he fought more Americans than any other nation in championship bouts) but still not great. Hopkins's was dire, boosted by two wins over much smaller guys which is meaningless.
In terms of natural talent then I'd say Roy... when he'd taken his roids.
It's kind of funny when you see people taking on the best competition out there and getting overlooked and then you get these three chumps becoming "legends" because Ring ****zine decrees it (and make no mistake, because Roy and Bernard are "legends" then Joe will become one too when he beats them both, despite the fact that they're both 86).
I like Joe, but he ain't no Danny Williams, you know what I mean?
