Floyd Mayweather Takes a Shot at Pacquiao, Boxing's Best

Roy Jones fought his fair share of nobodies as well. Both are still hall of famers. Floyd's resume isn't great but its still pretty good. Gatti was a champion when Floyd fought him and it was at 140. People back then were picking Gatti. People didn't expect what ended up happening. Judah is a fair fighter. Baldomir was target practice.

Fighting nobodies is a reality in prizefighting.

But a person calling himself p4p best yet consistently fights nobodies is just plain idiocy.

Baldomir was a nobody. No one else you can say was a nobody. Judah was a former champ and contender. Gatti was a champ. Corrales was undefeated. Castillo was a champ. Ndou was a contender. DLH was a past prime still very good fighter. Hatton is a an ok fighter. I don't see any other bums or whateva u wanna call em.

Bobby What does Mayweather have to do? He will beat Cotto or Pac at a catch weight. Just depends on the tim. If Cotto can get past Margarito and DLH

This is what makes me dislike Mayweather and his fans. They want worthy fighters to jump thru hoops to get a fight. Floyd wants his opponents to knock each other off and have a following before fighting them. His fans think he's unbeatable so all the rest of the division has to fight to see who gets the honor of fight Floyd. My opinion is the best fighter should try to take on the toughest challenges at the moment. I don't expect him to fight every last credible fighter because there will always be another one coming up. But I'd like to see him make the toughest fights available. Floyd didn't do that at 147, and he was expected to, just as the rest of the best are expected to.

I have to disagree. P4p means fighting the best fighters around you. Obviously though you would be expected to start in your own division.

Mayweather doesn't fight the best. He picks a random alphabet title, talks a lot of garbage to hype the fight, wins, and then jumps ship when the truly elite in the division want a shot at him.

Maybe he was the best p4p fighter, but he wasn't the best Welterweight. He hadn't proved it. He fought Judah (an actor and fouler), and then fought has-beens or never-weres from surrounding divisions. Margarito, Cotto, and Williams had nothing to prove to "earn" a shot at Mayweather. They are the best welterweights. Even if they have, or end up with losses on their records, they will go down as better welterweights because they fight the best around them.

If Mayweather would have ever went up against Margarito, Cotto, Williams, or Mosley, lost a time or two, had a trilogy in there somewhere, but won the majority, his legacy as an all-time great would have been cemented. Instead, it's a giant question mark.
