you can't deny floyd's skills. he's probably the most technically sound among all the boxers that have graced our generation. but floyd isn't 'money' as he declares himself to be. he can't put his 'money' where his mouth is. he knocks the audience out before the opponent so why give him credit?

he's 39-0 fighting against who? the guy's only fought a few marquee names. hatton, dela hoya, judah and gatti. that's it. of course he's far ahead of "those other bums" because he never fought fighters who are at the same platform as he is. dela hoya wasn't as invisible as he used to be, hatton was small and dumb, gatti was somewhat a more popular david diaz type, and judah is a brat. he never went in the ring with cotto, margarito, mosley and cintron which i consider to be at the same caliber as floyd. how can he be admired? he's the most skilled and talented. that's it. you can never call him the greatest just because he retired undefeated. to me, he's just at the same level as sven ottke from germany. undefeated, but who did he fight? how would floyd measure up if he went up against prime dela hoya?

second point, there are only a few black fighters out there who enjoy the same status as floyd does. andre berto is still an up-and-comer. andre ward is too, so is andre and anthony dirrell and rock allen. bernard hopkins' star is waning, winky isn't fighting yet, jermain is yet to bounce back, and the list goes on and on... the point exactly is that people are so used to seeing good black fighters that it's hard to tell them apart. but they are given recognition.

filipinos and hispanic fighters get their recognition by the way they fight. it's not boxing, it's war. pacquiao is a once in a lifetime fighter, so are the moraleses, barreras, marquezes, and cottos. you don't see them everyday. and what you don't see is a dominant white boxer like pavlik. and things you don't see often are the things people tend to pay more attention to. had floyd went up against more formidable opposition and won dominantly, people would give him the credit he's demanding for.

What Floyd and Floyd nuthuggers will not admit is that they argue his greatness based on hypothesis. They say that he is the most talented boxer. SO WHAT!! What good is Mayweather's talent if he has no courage to fight all best and strong fighters of his era in his weight division! People and Floyd will say that it doesn't matter because he will beat Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, and all of these "bums" anyway. REALLY NOW? SO FLOYD'S GREATNESS IS MORE HYPOTHETICAL THAN ACTUAL!! That's a shame. At least, Pacquiao has the guts to fight the best in his era, even if he knows that he is in danger of losing. Now that's what I call a legend in the making!!
