Calzaghe Turns Down Kelly Pavlik, Wants Roy Jones

Calzaghe definitely scared.. Kelly was surgical against Lockett.. Lockett was like damn this MF hits hard.. he couldnt stand the power. Calzaghe made up his mind quick.. its no coincidence he made up his mind immediately after Kelly beat Locketts arse (as they say in Wales).

Calzaghe's never turned down anyone, Lacy was supposed to knock Calzaghe's head off with his big shots, did that happen, no. Kessler is as big, and has as hard a punch as Pavlik, and Calzaghe begged to fight him. Enzo and Joe are scared off Kelly, LOL, idiotic view, really is.

You fella's don't seem to look at anything deeper than your subjective opinion, and then rant all day as it's it fact.

A decent amount of people in and outside boxing, and most on here, give Pavlik and Jones reasonably similar chances against beating Calzaghe. Reasons being fella's, styles makes fights. An absolutley massive factor in determining a winner (Hops fight demonstrated it recently) yet you don't mention it, let alone factor it into your rants of Calzaghe not wanting Pavlik cos he'd lose, and fighting an old Roy cos he'd win.

Pavlik's come forwards, straight punches style is suited to Calzaghe, this showed in beating Kessler. He can move around, duck, roll his head, time coming in/going out, and punch at different angles, with better speed. He wouldn't get him much, if he did he's handled big shots from Mitchell and similarly powered Kessler on his iron chin, and would enable himself to hit Pavlik at will.

This is why Calzaghe is confident he can beat Pavlik, he's never ducked anyone and is choosing of the fights open to him, and has not chosen the easier one. He says this openly guys, and many agree, so quit making stuff up to suite your view. Pavlik would have a better chance against Calzaghe next year when he'd be a better skilled boxer, and have more intelligence to his game, Calzaghe with his words clearly recognises this and is willing to risk fighting a younger Roy now, then an older closer to prime Kelly next year, possibly, and that's impressive.

Roy has the attributes and style that could challenge Calzaghe on all of his strength area's like to an extent no other fighter has before. His speed is still good, and not dissimilar to Joes, whom is regarded extremely fast, who else can say this? Pavlik, no. His movement is good, he can punch quickly at various angles like Joe can, so it is in no way as easy a fight for Joe to roll with and win, as it would be with Pavlik. Joe's no spring chicken he's about 37, Roy will be 39, big deal. There's a clear proven game plan for Joe to beat someone like Pavlik again and adapt in some area's, with Roy that's not so much the case, he can challenge Joe on most if not all of the same fronts, be competitive, and brings super ring intelligence, style a solid all round boxing game to the fight.

Calzaghe openly admitted that being scared before a fight is one of his chief motivations. Read up son. Now as far as being too scared to fight, thats just not in the mindset of ELITE professional boxers. They are confident and know no fear of other men. Joe is no exception to that.

Non-sense. Kelly Pavlik is the clearly the best middleweight. He completely destroyed a feared Edison Miranda and DETHRONED Jermain Taylor damn near decapitating him and has probably ended his career. Calzaghe has struggled against decent competition in Kessler, Hopkins and Mitchell he cant hold Pavliks jock strap.

He took a few hard uppercuts with no problem which would have KO'd some, he adapted and pulled away from Kessler winning round after round, hurting him in R8 to the point of near TKO had it not have been for a break, damaged his eye, Mikkel landed less and less and Joe landed more and more.

You've underlined your ignorance, and extreme bias, or lack of being able to judge a boxing match, of future matchups with those statements, really have.

In fact, Calzaghe gave Kessler an absolute boxing lesson that was better in many peoples eyes than his destruction of Jeff Lacy.

I think thats the point that you guys are trying to use to hide the fact that Calzaghe just doesnt want any of Pavlik. A prime RJJ would most likely beat Calzaghe, thats why they didnt fight a few years ago. Not to mention the fact that 5 years ago who even knew who Calzaghe was? I mean he fought some guys with decent records that I dont recognize, but were they Gary Locketts?

This is just a clear duck, I cant believe some of you guys are so biased not to realize it. Everybody wants Calzaghe/Pavlik besides Calzaghe and his fans.

You keep mentioning that Pavlik is another Lacy. Apples to oranges. They are both boxers and thats about as far as it goes.
