Floyd was destine to be remembered as a cherry picker and a ducking and dodger...Now we could add coward to his resume. also whenever we have something that involves De La Hoya and/or PBF, two words seem to come to the fore: Trickeration and manipulation. I'm sick of it and sick of them they need to retire 4 good!

what a chump, his resume will never compare with the opponents leonard, duran, benitez, hearns, delahoya,or trinidad fought.even with all the defeats that these fighters accomulated, their all better welterweights than he ever was just by having the guts to fight the best and show their true skill and balls.any big names this duck ever faced were eighther overrated or at the twilight of their carriers.and the whole boxing world knows that the true reason behind this decision is hes scared of facing cotto and all the excuses are running out since cottos showing in his next fight that he can sell in ppv.and to have the nerve to say that his better than the great sugar ray robinson, what a joke.....maybe its better ur punk ass retires...but dont expect the true boxing fans to buy that bs ,cause if u cant get up for a fight with the most dangerous threat to ur questionable perfect hand picked record in cotto?then retire coward and lets see where historys gonna place you.....no higher than any of the fighters above. P.S im not a de lahoya fan but in his prime he would have kicked ur ass.

I hope he never comes back, if it is true, good ridance; we finally get rid of Gayweather.
Make way for Oscar De La Hoya vs Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito!!!!
I say Oscar fights the loser first, then the winner for his farewell fight.

GUTTED! Boxing just lost a true star.
Cotto would have broken him in my opinion, was that why he retired? Who knows but he deserves the right to retire after the glittering career he's had, the guy has accomplished alot and dont need to prove himself to me.
BUT if he had continued to box then he HAD to fight Miguel or he'd hav PLUMMETED IMO!

Its funny; cause in his early days, PBF fought the best fighters in his weight class. He was impressive, Corrales and Castillo was his "peak" as a boxer. Then he fought Gatti, and it was downhill from there. He became famous and well known. He started cherry picking after that. I dont know if the fame and accolades as #1 P4P went to his head or not, but he wasnt the same fighter after Gatti. Problem is that people remember the end, and not the beggining. Mayweather was awesome; but we will always remember his last years, when he dint fight the best, just the names.

I'm sure he hasn't retired for good. At least wishful-thinking anyway. If he came back to face the Cotto/Marg winner then the money pot will surely be higher for him to 'comeback' then if he was still active. I think this is Floyd being very clever.

****! ****! ****! I hope it's not 4 real but if so... it's the worst that could happen damn. He was the one boxer that I fairly enjoyed because of his skills. DAMN, that's really BS. I can enjoy other fighters two because of excitement etc. but Floyd's skill was unique.
I guess his physical condition must be real bad. That he stopped throwing combo's was not because he was afraid of a man. He was afraid about his own body betraying him. The psyche of a fighter is so different. It's really said that such a boxer has such problems. It's sad. But he fought enough fights with one hand only. Enough boxer can't even box their way out of a paper bag with two hands. It really sucks.
I guess that everybody only critizised him had also something to do with it. Like he said. He ain't had the fun anymore. If you starting to get a star and everybody ONLY critzise you, I guess the fun part is gone.
I'm happy that he is now retired (if it's true). If someone is in this sport so long for many it's like an addiction. And somewhere down the road they loose their passion and getting hurt but go on and on. If Floyd feels that his body can't take it anymore alright. A great career. He ranks for me still very high but I have to say now that I can't consider him the greatest. The last real challenge for me personally is not there. But a great career.
Still don't know why ppl bring up Margarito. Margarito has no right to fight such a big fight like Floyd. That's simply the bottom line. Cotto would have been the creme on top for me personally. But not because I think he hasn't fought serious competition. Because I personally consider Cotto as one of the last true professionals. Has some skills. It would have been interesting. Still Floyd would win that fight but it would have been interesting.
SAD DAY
