i like how we give no credit to roy for beating a blown up tito, but then forget about the fact that roy just made 169 1/2 lbs... at 39 years old.... a weight he hadnt fought at in over 10 years... and STILL performed, INCLUDING 2 knockdowns...

i suppose that doesnt mean a damn thing

AND he had a torn left bicep... and that aint an excuse... thats one injury you can ACTUALLY see on his arm...

he won the fight. yay, credit for Roy. he beat NOBODY of significance in beating Tito. FACT.

IMO, Joe closes the final chapter on RJJ's career. Not a knock against Roy.

I feel the move to heavy and then back down to light heavy affected him. But his BEST days are over. he may very well be stopped by Joe. as ree****yalus as that may sound, you must come to grips with it Frankie.

its not about A beat B, C etc..

its an example of how piss poor Tito is at this point. Tito was FRESHER against Winky and at a more suitable weight and was swepted..
What do you base this on? The fact that he had fought once before? Against Mayorga? Styles make fights.

Man Tito wasnt even a fighter anymore when he fought Roy. Roy SHOULD have KHTFO..but didnt and COULDNT.
Funny, they used to say that about Jones before 2003. "Man Roy should've knocked him out!" Re: Del Valle, Telesco, etc. and every other lhw who had no business lasting the difference.

that laying on Ropes defense might work against a guy who started his career 30-40 pounds lighter who hadnt had a fight in three years, but it wont work against Calzaghe..
Not very astute, are you? You may have noticed that Jones WANTED to lay against the ropes versus Tito, but Tito (being smart - certainly a lot smarter than you) refused to get caught in that game. Funny, I know a HUGE lhw who was too smart to do that either...his name was Antonio Tarver. That came in the third match when Jones backed into the corner and hammered Tarver with his back against the ropes (unlike the first fight). And Tarver wisely kept the fight IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING after that.

I base fresher on because he didnt take three years off

Roy used to be a heavy weight titlist. Tito used to fight at 140. Roy dropped tito twice. HE SHOULDVE khtfo.

Ive seen Roy lay on the Ropes againt a lot of fighrers homay, he may very well get TKO by Joe doing that.

All I'm saying is what most do, even Joe fans, Roy was quicker prime for prime. Pretty reasonable. But Imdazed, the margin your making out is ridiculous and subscribes to a real over hyping of Roy in his prime, sorry. I don't really want to spend the time getting into deep detail on that, criticise if you want but I've spent more time than intended on here recently already, to debate what most agree on. And that's that Roy was quicker and better than Joe prime for prime, by a small - reasonable margin, not massive. Prime for prime it'd be close, Joe would not be outta there by R4 that's ridiculous, his chin, speed, and power with ok hands in his prime, were more than enough to last 12 rounds with Roy.

If you don't accept that fine, keep believing Roy was completely untouchable and Calzaghe way down and not a great (which is really it isn't it). But don't blame ppl for not wanting to entertain that or discuss it too much, because it's crap. I don't wish to speculate on the 'not now' much more to be honest it spirals and takes threads of in tangents.

Reasonably speaking, Joe would have always been a close fight for Roy, and will be now.

roy should of knocked out almost every opponent he faced in his prime... roys carried fighters the distance since he was 23 years old... that doesnt prove a god damn thing. go watch the david telesco fight and see if he carried fighters or not

That makes little sense. Taking time off = NOT FRESHER? Ok.

Dumb, dumb logic. As if you have no concept of boxing at all. Really, I could tear this down and show how silly this argument is but I can't believe you're so short-sighted.

A lot of fighters? Yeah, he's done that his whole career. What's your point? Or, specifically, what are you saying here? Yeah he could lose to Calzaghe. Anything can happen in the ring. Thank you for enlightening us.

Amen man, that's a fair call, I'd perhaps give a few more of the mid-later R's to Joe where he often up's his game plan and determination, which'd make it v tight. But at least there is a reasonable agreement on the fact it'd be close fight most likely won on points.
