Come to think of it, this fight is dangerous! More like fighting a smart gorilla with a machine gun!

There is no doubt that Joe is favored and RJJ could get hurt. I agree, I'm a big RJJ fan I don't want to see him hurt physically or mentally. But Joe doesn't scare me, even though RJJ is past his prime. His has a new style, a style that "normal" boxers have, jab, jab, straight right, and hands up. BORING, for RJJ but he has accepted his age and short comings. He will be motivated for this fight and put up a good showing. I as a fan realize that the superman days are over. Name any other boxer who carried boxers for rounds and rounds, and at the same time put on a show!

Thank you!! I try not post bull**** threads or bias opinions, just trying to state some facts. And as i continue to read these threads it seeems obvious that most fans on this site are either overseas and never really saw Roy Jones b4 his two knockout losses. Calzaghe is a great fighter and i take nothing away from him. But taking this fight against RJ is a serious mistake. B4 his fight with bernard most american boxing fans thought he was a good fighter who was a little bit overrated and some even questioned his willingness to fight out of the comforts of his own hometown. With that being said, it almost seems like most of his fans feel that sense he "finally" came across seas and fought a legitimate, established, light heavy weight in Bernard, and beat him IMO convincingly, then that should be enough for the casual American fight fan to pay his due respect to Joe. I posted a thread earlier on Page 6 that a lot or you should re read if you actually think that Joe Calzaghe has a chance of beating up Roy Jones Jr. Tip my hat to Calzaghe though, at his first fight at light heavy weight he could of easily took a tune up fight b4 fighting one of the best at that weight class. He didnt and beat a very good fighter. However, as far as his last fight goes that's where i have to draw the line on how much credit to give Joe. When Roy Jones was in his prime Bernard Hopkins couldnt even hold is jock strap. Translation, Bernard Hopkins despite having a more successful latter part of his career is by know means on the level that Roy Jones is or even was. What i would like all of you guys who actually think that Joe will beat roy up is to go on you tube and type in Roy Jones Jr. Style wise this is a very hard fight for Calzaghe. Im even more nervous for him because bernard was 44 years old when he fought him. And I noticed that since he was knocked down in the 1st round it took a while for his offense to get going. And it wasnt because Bernard was overwhelming him it was because for the first time that i saw him he had to fight at a pace that wasnt what he was accustomed too. It wasnt until about the 4th or 5th round that calzaghe must or realized "Duh, this guy's only waiting to counter so all he had to do was throw a barrage of punches because after Bernard knocked him down it seemed like he was always waiting to throw was the straight right hand after Joe misses with his left jab. In all honesty, joe fought a good fight but Bernard hopkins is no Roy Jones. Roy's faster, stronger, and the most telling stat that i think will determine the outcome of the fight is that he's more accurate (especially, with his lead right and up jabs). Personally i reserve my right to pick a winner for this fight, but the 1 thing i do know is that pity pat punch Calzaghe is not going to beat up Roy, if he couldnt beat up Bernard who was just waiting to counter all day. Roy's lead right hands will get to calzaghe's chin and head faster than 6 of his punches he throws will land on roy. Bernard dropped calzaghe playing defense. Roy, although he doesnt throw as many punches as Calzage" is very accurate and it's rare that you see him throw a 5 punch combination and not hit you flush with at least 3 of those punches. On the other hand, Calzaghe can throw 8-10 punch flurries and sometimes maybe 1 or 2 will land cleanly. When you get knocked out twice there is obviously going to be questions about whether you can take a punch, but let's be realisitc Calzaghe does not hit know where near as hard as Tarver does and Roy Jones know's that. I will be the first to say that ever since his knockdown to Johnson that Roy has looked somewhat reluctant to go toe 2 toe with somebody who has that knock out power. However, Calzaghe doesnt have that power any more due to the numerous hand injuries. Both fighters have a good chance to pull of the victory and if it went down to the scorecards i dont see Roy pulling off an upset in wales. (No offense to the judges or the fans, but i remember the Peter Manfredo fight and even though Peter was not going to win, you shouldnt have a fight called because the other guy is throwing punches and your displaying decent defense. None of those punches hit him yet in Wales the fight was called.) Trust me when i tell you this, Roy saw that fight too and there must be a reason he's willing to go overseas and face that kind of adversity. If both there careers ended now, still to this day, most American fights fans would remember Calzaghe from his
grindy, however, uninspiring win over a 44 year old boxer that fights only once a year. I mean be serious, the fight was in Vegas yet the European fighter was a 2and a half to 1 betting favorite, No offense to European boxing fans but all your fighter did in beating hopkins was beat a fighter most die hard boxing fans knew he should be. We knew it wouldnt be easy fighting bernard never is. But on output alone, most American fight fans knew he could beat hopkins. However, Out put by itself , is not going to beat roy jones. It's a shame that all of a sudden that 2 losses whether they be by knock out or not takes away from how good of a fighter you are or were. B4 his losses to Tarver and Johnson its pretty ****ing hard to watch Jones and find a round he loss let alone a fight. Roy showed me against Trinidad that he had something left and though trinidad is not Calzaghe, Roy is not bernard, either. Beating Bernard was good, defeating Roy jones would be legendary to his career. Another thing too, most american fight fans including myself wanted Calzaghe to win, even if most tried to play the whole country/country thing. Bernard was nothing special and if he didnt defeat and over rated Trinidad back in 2002 or 3 nobody would know who he is. I just want to see a good fight and with their styles it should be just that. However, i just think that if anybody gets beating up in this fight it wont be Roy.

Too many words for Joe's favorited.

I don't think Joe can beat Roy.

          Joe was extremely overrated!

Roy Jones was a great fighter but isnt anymore, That Tito jones fight proved it. I know he is just getting back on the scene but he shouldnt jump into something like Calzaghe.

I want Joe to fight somebody in his Prime like Kelly. But i would hope they would fight at the Middleweight division.

To me Joe is overrated. He was supposed to destroy a 43 year old B-Hop. It looked as if when they went to an exchange B-Hop would come out on top but just didnt have the stamina after that to finish.

If kelly fought joe at the middleweight division he will definitely recieve his first loss.
