Fighters like Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Ali all had charisma, yes, but they continuosly fought the best, fought hard, and had crowd pleasing styles. Floyd quit fighting the best competition, plain and simple. He got huge after he fought Oscar. He's taking advantage of it yes, but you can't compare him to the likes of those other fighters. As far as skills, sure, but that's it. They got the fans involved by how they fought, which in turn helped boxing. Floyd gets people involved by acting ridiculous, and got his mainstream image by beating De La Hoya. He's not helping boxing more than those guys did. Say what you want, but he'll never be as popular as those guys. If he fought the best, and had great, exciting fights, he would be.

MMA had its chance to overtake boxing with the Liddell/Jackson coverage...but it never happened, and it never will

Unless Kimbo gets super popular, defeats Couture then faces off with Fedor lol

Without Floyd, the recent surge of MMA would probably be at or just about at the spot where boxing is. Thank You Floyd.
How so? when Mayweather has only had two fights in the last two years?
You want to know why that's some bull****?.. because it's taking away much deserved credit to Izzy Vazquez, Manny Pac, Sugar Shane, Carlos Quintana and Paul Williams, Kelly Pavlik, Jermain Taylor, Joe Calzaghe, and all those other guys who have been working hard at putting on good fights and gaining more public interest in the sport and just saying it is all because of Mayweather which it's really not.

floyd isnt keeping boxing in the mainstream.

Haven't we already been through this.

Floyd might currently be the best fighter in the sport (key word is currently; not of all time) but he isnt keeping boxing in the mainstream eye.

if you had said that statement about someone like Oscar De La Hoya then it would make sense.

Floyd is only concerned with Floyd and Floyd's money.

Floyd isnt concerned about the state of boxing; so long as those checks keep coming in to make him richer and richer.

Floyd is a great boxer no doubt about it...but the only 3 things floyd does single handedly is:

          A) Jack off

          B) deposit his checks

          C) check left hooks

I have gotten under your skin enough to contradict yourself on an infinite level. So go ahead and keep posting about how you dont care how I own your ass over and over and how you dont have the time to waste on petty e-fights, but your actions speak louder than the simple, re-treaded words your fingers type. Now give me your cornbread *****.
you keep saying im the one affected...then why are you the one wasting 20 minutes of your life with these thought out explanations in these posts. **** you don't reply you write a novel. Its very obvious in both of our replies who's more affected by the other. and its you with you novels for replies and not to mention all the time you take to cut past edit quote things to try to prove a point lol poor kid

Well, I've read a trainer stating that the Mayweather/Hatton fight piqued kids interest in boxing and they were asking where they could get to see Mayweathers fights and boxing in general. They turned up to the gym. He said this was a great thing, and great for the sport. That's one way.
