Marciano, Robinson, Dempsey, Johnson, Louis, Duran, Lamotta, Ketchel, Chavez, Armstrong...........need I go on? The majority of the fighters I listed certainly had boxing ability, but when one remembers the past, images of Robinson pummeling his opponents against the ropes appear, flashes of the bloody wars Chavez engaged in appear, images of Lousis's opponents lying almost lifeless because of the hell he put them through appear. When Burt Sugar has his little segments on espn about fighters of the old, seldom do you see footage of them being slick or backpeddling, but rather footage of them engaging against their toughest opponents of course unless its Willie Pep .

Of course, you will read this and take it as me saying that "Boxers" are spineless not willing to man up. That is far from what I'm saying, but nostalgia doesn't favor the cautious, only the fierce.

I know what you mean, ESPN isnt going to show the less action fights of a slick fighter over a grueling action fight. A slick boxer might not be as appealing but none the less is usually very skilled, of course brawlers also require skill as to avoid punishment.

Point is, they show Gatti all over classic fight things. Didn't mean he could beat Mayweather.

I mean that can not be what you are saying here, and really do you think highley of that win? if so that must make Gomez and Baldimor the **** as well, oh did you also forget DLH busted up Gatti years prior to Floyd? **** Oscar did more damage to Gatti.
Look Floyds win over Gatti means nothing seriously so get over that. Gatti is known for his heart and courage and he will be more respected for the way he fought than some world champions.

I think fighters only resort to fighting flat-footed because they have no choice. and boxers like Mayweather has plenty of options, so he doesnt stand flat footed...., instead he boxes on his toes, just like SRL, SRR, or ali..
