When Burt Sugar has his little segments on espn about fighters of the old, seldom do you see footage of them being slick or backpeddling, but rather footage of them engaging against their toughest opponents of course unless its Willie Pep .

Of course, you will read this and take it as me saying that "Boxers" are spineless not willing to man up. That is far from what I'm saying, but nostalgia doesn't favor the cautious, only the fierce.
I know what you mean, ESPN isnt going to show the less action fights of a slick fighter over a grueling action fight. A slick boxer might not be as appealing but none the less is usually very skilled, of course brawlers also require skill as to avoid punishment.

Point is, they show Gatti all over classic fight things. Didn't mean he could beat Mayweather.

Just my opinion. You are entitled to yours as i am to mine.

      .

I know you are not going to argue that Gatti was fresh when Floyd fought him are you? I mean that can not be what you are saying here, and really do you think highley of that win? if so that must make Gomez and Baldimor the **** as well, oh did you also forget DLH busted up Gatti years prior to Floyd? **** Oscar did more damage to Gatti.
Look Floyds win over Gatti means nothing seriously so get over that. Gatti is known for his heart and courage and he will be more respected for the way he fought than some world champions.

its Sad when they bring up Floyds win over Gatti, who hasnt beat Gatti seriously by the time Floyd got to him he was like a used hooker off 5th st. somehow they feel it was a milestone.

why do you find equipment in every boxing gym that improves head
              movement?

Why do fighters wear ankle weights?

              jump rope?

And simulate ducking punches when doing pad workouts?

If I threw something at your head, hopefully you would have the wherewithal to move out of the way. ...

              Or

Would you Stand there get hit, and then throw something Back....?

              Generally Speaking....

I think fighters only resort to fighting flat-footed because they have no choice. and boxers like Mayweather has plenty of options, so he doesnt stand flat footed...., instead he boxes on his toes, just like SRL, SRR, or ali..

              So the question really is....?

Should he take punishment to give punishment...?
              (Like fighters such Margarito)

Are Should he give Punishment and avoid Punishment..?
              (as he is doing now....)
because the word BOXER = means box
              You can box without running.

Where did i say any of that?

Did i say Gatti was an increidble win...

A pin point accurate fast puncher Vs a guy thats easy to hit

What a fight you got there.

Don;t have a go at me cause i stated soemthing. the man pointed out that Brawlers are talked about more on ESPN, i was pointing out that they are talked about more but it does not mean they would win in an actual fight.

Now, an apology for all that semi-abuse you just hurled at me.

Regardless of how many rides around the block Gatti had, the manner of which Floyd disposed of him was impressive. Not only that, it was a great career move for Floyd. Humiliating one of the sports most exciting fighter created the path which has directed Floyd to the position he is in now. Boxing is more than just fighting, but managing your career well so that you can have the weight to demand things you need.

Unfortunately, Floyd has gotten a little carried away and hopefully, he will come to the aid of the people who put him where he is now.
