"One thing I've learned to do in this business is I've got to spot trends," Arum would tell Maxboxing a few weeks ago. "I jumped on the fact that the fans were becoming heavily Hispanic. Now, what do I see in boxing? I see something that is very disturbing, the fans are skewing older. And so that when you do a fight in Las Vegas, you get the casino customer and they're older people. Not bad. What is the downside?"

More fossils than the La Brea tar pits?

"Those sons of a gun are getting older, they're dying out. So we're not getting replenished," agreed Arum, laughing. "So in order to sell boxing, I have to go to the places where the fans are. Puerto Rico, we had Cotto (when he faced Otkay Urkal in March), Madison Square Garden, we got Cotto and Judah, guys who create some interest. San Antonio, great fight town, we bring Manny Pacquiao down there but also Arce. They'll come over the border to watch Arce and Mijares, and little Chavez, they love him. OK, then the 23rd I come back to Vegas but I'm coming back to Vegas only for a reason ?I've already sold 6,000 tickets in England, the English fans that follow Ricky Hatton.

"That's the only way I know how to do it, to be a promoter. Not a broker, not to take money from a network ?not that there's anything illegal about it ?and take money from a casino and call myself a promoter and sit on my ass with two seats in the center of the camera," said Arum, who's as spry as any 75-year old man can be. "That's not promoting. You do that occasionally. Why not? You gotta take a breather. But you don't do that and call yourself a promoter. What's happening now is because we have so many people, not only Golden Boy, but other so-called promoters who act that way, that the ratings are slipping to catastrophically low levels."
You know what that is? A shot at GBP.

What is the last successful PPV show that Slippery Bob put up that was not in Vegas?

Do you think that MAB- Pac had hispanic interest? WHERE WAS IT?

Do you think that MAB-JMM had hispanic interest? WHERE WAS IT?

Mosley is a name... but not a draw. When we talk about guys, we have to draw a distinction.

Shane Mosley has been a part of some ATROCIOUS pay-per-view performances.

Be back in a few... cooking for my girl.

I didn't see Winky and Hopkins and I have no urge to see it but was the Casino packed? After all both guys are mainstream.

I'd like to think I'm wrong, but I think becoming so reliant on casinos' for so long for big fights, has ****ed up the sport. Promoters wanted the big bucks from the non and average fan, that they abandoned the loyal fans. Now to think you can go back to venues where you would rely on the loyal fans when essentially abandoning them 30 years ago, has led to a depletion of the fan base?

What do you have to say about this pesticid?

This is why Zag - Kessler was so good for the sport.

Two totally different fighters, opponents, and circumstances played factors in their respective bouts at 35, you must know that Az.

                  Alright haters, one ****ing question-

Who the **** in the SMW is better than JC?

Stop hating on the only champion out there to clean up his division, and do so convincingly. The fact it Hopkins was a dominant MW champ, got stripped by Taylor, and to this day couldnt recover the belts there. And you dont see Mayweather pressing for unification bouts against the other, young hungry welterweight champs either. Give Zag the respect he is due, or continue to expose yourself as an ignorant fanboy *****...

Fights being held in casino's aren't for the fans period. They are for the big spenders who will spend big money during a fight weekend for two fighters who they barely know the name to. Why do you think the live gate doesn't matter to these casino's they make their money in other ways otherwise 40k in brits coming to America would have a much larger impact on where this fight is held.
