While it may be a close fight on paper, I believe cotto has the mental edge over zab. I think zab will be rattled early by cotto and become somewhat unravelled. zab will lose focus and perhaps be knocked out in the latter rounds.

I would like to say this though. Cotto does seems a little one dimensional, and he certainly looks like a "plodder"(not sure if that is correctly written). But I think he is very deceptive. He might look slow and straight forward on TV, but I think in reality he is much more fluid, fast and skilled than he seems on screen.
From what I have read, most people think Cotto will lose against a boxer. I think that is wrong. Cotto will not lose against a boxer(unless his name is mayweather). Sooner or later, Cotto will lose. But I bet you that when he loses, it will be by knockout. He will trade, and eventually he will get caught. Thats why I think Judah has a chance, but I think its a small chance.
If you're right I'm in deep ****.
Speaking of doubt - watching Cotto batter some of his victims makes these words echo for me.. Miguel definately has some deceptive quality.
What do I know really?.. I've only really seen "X" amount of combatants and potentiality's, and they don't all cover someone like Miguel Cotto.. The things he does, and seems to do are quite unusual at times.
What he was doing to Quintana could even be considered "unconventional."
I'd say that left he knocked down Malignaggi in the 2nd round with was improvisational..
You're right - he does seem one dimensional, but when I look at some of that stuff it gives me pause.
Touche.

All I know is that I cant wait till next week. Sometimes; when I explain in the forums why I am confident that Cotto will beat Judah, I dont know if I am trying to convince them or if I am trying to convince myself. Cotto is my favorite fighter, so I know I am biased. I try to be as objective as I can, but I know that I cant really be totally unbiased. One week till the fight, and I am already nervous, excited, impatient, etc. The week before jitters, thats what I have. Havent felt this way about a fight in a long time; actually(and this is sad), I havent felt this way about anything in a long time. I just cant wait.
Anyway; I am going to sleep, but ill definitely be here tommorow to talk after watching the Cotto/Judah countdown on HBO.

If I was - you would have me clutching a bit.
This is what we're here for. Tantalizing stuff.
It works - if this can be put into an equation.
See, the Cotto advocates are making the massive leap in assumption that Cotto is on the next level of competition.
..........That he's at the world class level.
(This mistake was made with Jeff Lacy, David Reid, Gerry Cooney, ect.)
To be fair - that is a total UNKOWN.
All in all, the question of this fight for me is fundamental.
For any Cotto theory to work; he has to be of comparable skill and capability to Zab Judah.
I'm afraid, in my mind, he is not.
No equation. Does not compute. Error. Error.
On top of that, even if they were on the same level of skill and capability Cotto does not have the arsenal to foil a Zab Judah.
Here's a quote from someone else online on our subject..
The guy know's what he's talking about.
"....Eh, bad fight for Cotto. Like the kid a lot but the way to beat Judah is to beat him with straight rights imo. Though another way is to have him backing up a lot without having him moving side to side a lot and it wouldn't be unreasonable for Cotto to accomplish this while scoring to the body with the hooks and break him down there. But I think it's a bad style matchup for Cotto."

I've said it for a couple years now.... when Zab is on his A-Game he is one of the best fighters on the world. On those nights he'll easily be able to take Cotto to school. However, as much as I want to think Zab has matured mentally enough to handle the challenge of Cotto.... I just don't think he will.
Zab will control the pace and land some very good shots early on but in the mid rounds I expect him to give up. However.... by round 7 if Judah isn't showing signs of a weak mind he's going to knock Cotto out in my opinion.
But as I said at the start... if I were betting on it I'd put my money on Cotto as you know what you'll get out of him.
