Will Anthony Joshua be the next great heavyweight?

Many Olympic Gold medalists have done well in the pros (Muhammed Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko) although a few have not (Audley Harrison).

I wonder how Anthony Joshua will do?

Very early to tell. A lot will depend on these next few years in his development stage. He clearly has a lot of physical gifts that others dont otherwise he wouldnt have made it right to the top of amateur boxing with only 4 years boxing experience. But he also has a lot to learn. Which trainer he gets, how dedicated he is to learning technique, how much good sparring and how many fights he can get will all go to determining how far he could go.

I like him and think he will go far. But the next great heavyweight? Way to early imo

I pretty much agree with everything.

But I think Hughie is the technically enter fighter at this stage.

        This ^.

Hughie, IMO, looks like the real deal. Of course, he still needs to prove he can take a shot.

At this stage i dont think Hughie Fury appears to be the physical athlete that Joshua is. But he is clearly much better schooled and younger (so will still fill out).

My greatest wish is that both fullfill their potential and we could get one of the biggest domestic fights of all time for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world

The golden boy Anthony Joshua, won the olympics, big money pro contract and headlining shows from his first fight, versus the northerner gypsy boy who came up the hard way fighting fight after fight.

          Both Superheavyweights, skilled and athletic.

I'd sell my soul for that to happen!

He's a good prospect, has decent size, athleticism, power and chin

I've seen some say he has a suspect chin which is just hillarious.

But he has a bit to learn so I hope he's not rushed along and overhyped.

I definitely think he'll do better than price and Audley though

I don't think so. Officially he won the gold but most people had him losing to the Cuban and then in the final as well. I'm not saying he doesn't have talent because of course he does but a lot attention/expectation has come from his results at the Olympics which are a bit misleading.

I agree the hype will be too much but its worth remembering he got to the final of the worlds and has won aba titles as well. Olympic gold is what everyone remembers but it wasn't really a one off.

That Cuban tbf was from hall of fame amateur stock, and I thought Joshua deserved the win against cammarale (and he definately beat cammarale in the worlds)

That said, the amateur results don't mean that much, compared to the basic attributes they show and I'm impressed with Joshua at this stage.
