Without big gloves and head guards THEY might have knocked HIM out. Silly statement to make.

Too early to tell. He was fortunate to win the gold; very favourable judging for him but the Cuban was far more experienced so he did well to stick in there.

Doesn't look to be of Lewis calibre though. However it is too early to tell.

HW boxing isn't deep like it used to be given other sports swallow up a lot of talent.

Mate, that was the point of the post. The only silly thing about it, was your ability to understand what I wrote.

I said in my first post that his own dedication to learning the craft will be one of the main factors in whether he succeeds and he always fills me with confidence when he talks that that is what he will do. Obviously talk is only talk but there is a clear difference between the way he carries himself compared, for example, to someone like James Degale.

I've made the point in earlier threads so I won't labour the point...but I think the pace Anthony is progressed at will be absolutely crucial.

We're talking about a guy with an Olympic gold medal but who is still learning the sport and cannot draw upon a great deal of experience and who started boxing relatively late. He's got to the top of the mountain whilst still effectively wearing a set of 'L' plates.

One danger I see is that Anthony could race through the domestic division here in the UK and get a belt quickly, literally knocking people over in a couple of rounds, whilst still not learning a great deal in the process.

What I'd like to see him do is spend a couple of years facing all sorts of styles of fighters, perhaps boxing on some foreign shows, and doing plenty of sparring in gyms across Europe and the States.

              Good post.

Hughie Fury is the perfect model for AJ to follow in terms of activity imo. Unfortunately i dont see Hearn putting AJ on untelevised shows like HF has been doing with Hennessy, which could limit his opportunities to fight regularly.

                    Troll vote from me.

I think he could do alright in the pros in his first year or two.. after that who knows. I don't want to get my hopes too high up after our last Super Heavyweight Olympic champion.

He seems like a nice guy though. Laconic and laid back.

He's very raw and sloppy but given a couple years development could be one to watch

Don't get to hyped on that guy, He lost to the tongan guy, who got KO'd by the autralian guy in 34 seconds, the Australian guy claimed the Australasia spot for the Olympics and went in a was dropped and stopped by the Chinese guy, who joshua put away comfortably. And btw Tyson put Botha out cold 10 years ago with ONE punch after being largely out boxed. This fat, 44 year old Botha was still standing after eating several fully powered hooks. Even as a New Zealander I think he'll be a gate keeper at best.
