That's really not at all true though. Most retire because they have no choice. Not good enough to get big fights anymore, and losing to **** fighters means they don't get paid. Most of all though, they rack up huge debt while still at the top, then have to keep fighting to pay it off or just stem the tide, then finally are forced to retire because it's a young mans game.
Right now, Mosley would keep fighting if he could. He needs the money, despite making millions upon millions in his career. He didn't finish a fight for the first time ever in his last fight and has now retired at 42 even though he's got nothing in comparison to what he once had.
Unfortunate, but true.
As Scott said also, Barkley made a boatload of money in his career. Absolutely loaded. However, he was dirt poor by the time his retirement came around when he was fat, old, **** and fighting for peanuts.
That is very true Benny but the subject of the thread was fighters that retired WITH money, not fighters that made money but retired broke.
