It's difficult to think that a person who you have had numerous discussions with over the internet has suddenly passed away. Difficult to accept that he is just away now.

Meeting GJC on this forum and having discussions with him about the likes of Joe Baksi and Gunnar Bärlund, old time fighters that he personally witnessed in the ring (unlike I who have only viewed videos of them), was one of the most valuable experiences I've had over here.

It is one of my great regrets that I never managed to come across any Joe Baksi film that I could show him. But he saw Baksi in the ring and that's a far greater experience than having only seen film.

May he rest in peace. I will remember him and the discussions we had, and I will remain a fan of the sport of boxing until the end, as he did.

Over the years, I've had (mostly) positive interactions with numerous members here on Boxingscene. Although I can't say that I had too many encounters with the poster GJC, I do remember him as being a sensible and knowledgeable poster and he seemed like he was kinda an old timer who acquired his boxing acumen through years of watching and following the sport, much like his peers in the History section...

      R.I.P., sir...

Really summarises the man that thread, first to care about others. I remember him discussing his medical problems and despite there he always had a cheerful tone when he described himself as "a large portion of the NHS' budget." or something of the accord. No doubt he enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

I didn't peg that this thread was about a poster until just now. Very sad news.

Like BostonGuy I never had too many interactions with GJC, but I enjoyed his literate posts, his obvious breadth of knowledge and experience and his general class. Posters like that are rare and make a forum what it should be.

RIP and my sincere condolences to his family.

Some of us .... well most of us... sometimes gets carried away and post stuff that you wouldnt say to a guys face. GJC was never like that. He was always respectfull. I have a feeling he was lke that in real life too. Always respectful and balanced. Something we could all learn from.

May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

Amen gents. GJC was one of the special ones.

Although it's on a bad note, it's good to see you back here GreatA.
