He was one of the wisest and most gentle internet buddies we all had here in the history section. I hope all went well, I said my prayers for him, on Thursday. We'll all meet face to face one day again and be able to chat for hours on end on Marciano, Moore and Pep.

It's obvious he had a great family, and I hope it's some small comfort that you know what an effect he had on those here and how highly thought of he was universally. He will be deeply and truly missed by all who knew him. He was a great friend to all of us here in the history section.
Hi Benny, thanks so much for your kind words and to all the messages on here. Funeral went well, he got a tremendous turnout and many tales of my GF were told. He was quite a terror in his younger days by all accounts, he obviously mellowed over the years.

I can imagine he was for some reason. Thanks again John for taking the time to let us all know. I think I can safely say that we all truly appreciate it.

Oh, how awfully upsetting that my 'old mate' George is no longer with us..

When i joined, he was the one i noticed and we soon became friends..

I've been in hospital myself recently which is why i'm a bit late in responding, but thanks John, for letting us all know..

Speaking of his younger days, George like myself was from the East end of London, knew all the 'chaps' and had some great stories of what they all used to get up to..

I'll miss him irreplacebly on here and my only hope now, is that he passed away peacefully without any pain or discomfort..

RIP old mate... You're a true gent in heaven as on earth, God Bless

I never knew he was the old... that's awesome that he got enjoyment out of this place.

It's also somewhat embarrassing that he had to put up with the ridiculous amount of immaturity on this forum, but if he stayed in the history section, it shouldn't of been too bad.

Rest in peace old friend, you'll be missed.

This is sad news. I don't remember the incident, but GJC once joked about his age in one of the the threads.

There is always been heated exchanges in these forums, yet GJC never reduced himself to the level of some of the notable trolls and haters out there.

I always enjoyed his insight on some of his encyclopedic knowledge. RIP GJC.
