    Jack Dempsey vs Lennox Lewis.

Who is greater on a Heavyweight list and who would win in a hypothetical match up.

I think that for sure Jack will always be higher on any rankings list. I doubt that Lennox Lewis's legacy will ever even approach Demspey's. I also pick Demspey in a hypothetical match up. Dempsey always was at his best and had an easy day with the massive fighters, and Lewis wouldn't even be the bigegst he faced.

Dempsey has the better resume, & I would favour him against Lewis outright, though not by much. Maybe 55-45, head-to-head, in Dempsey's favour. That's enough for him to clinch a higher all-time ranking. Something like Dempsey 8th, Lewis 10th or 11th all-time for the division, to me, sounds about right.

I don't see anyone on Dempsey's ledger a prime Lewis wouldn't be favourite against, & the same holds true in reverse.

        What about Tunney?

I would take Lewis against Tunney head-to-head, John L.

i would take Tunney over Lewis by 15rd UD with Tunney winning 13 of the 15rds, as for Dempsey i rate him as the greatest Heavyweight of all times No1 with Lewis just outside the Top 15.. Dempsey excelled against tall, heavy fighters usually destroying them in the opening round, if Rahman & McCall can put Lewis lights-out then Jack Dempsey does it even quicker.

Its not possible for Lennox to lose a decision. He never lost one in his entire career despite fighting in the bias United States most of the time.

Lennox wins 7/10 against Dempsey and 10/10 in rematches.

Lennox has a win over his top 4 contemporaries in (Klitschko, Tyson, Bowe and Holyfield) Dempsey doesnt have a win over any of his contemporaries in (Wills, Tunney, Johnson, Langford)

Dempsey was allowed 3 year vacations where he kept the belt, while Lennox could get stripped after only 3 months of inactivity. Jack had it easy.

Dempsey also didnt have to defend against coloured fighters. How is that fair to a guy like Marciano or Lennox who had to face the top guys in sport regardless of their race...Jack had it easy.

Dempsey only had to worry about one belt. He did not have 4 different mandatories to track down as Lennox did. Jack could schedule a four round farce with Jimmy Darcy and call it a year. Jack had it way too easy.

For these reasons I have no qualms ranking Lennox higher All-time.

Lewis has a shot of beating any HW in history, and apart from 3 or 4 I think he beat most of them in his prime. I think he outboxes Dempsey to a decsion.
