Ali had a better chin than Holmes

Right...you might wanna go back and check the times Ali nearly got blasted out in the 60s. They're on par with each other imo, taking their respective entire careers into account.

Right, in those 2 fights where he was still developing and would later take shots twice as hard without flinching.

And with 'on par with eachother' I seriously hope you meant with pie eating contests or something else nobody else knows about, because in boxing you cannot compare Holmes to Ali.

Ali and Holmes both had terrific chins and recuperative powers. Its advantage Ali but both could take tremendous blows.

Holmes was obviously knocked down several more times than Ali......and he was obviously knocked out by prime Tyson (when 38 years old, 2 years inactive and given only 2 months to prepare!!!). But I struggle to think of any other fight in which he was knocked down and failed to come back to win, usually by stoppage (Shavers/Snipes).

        Both legends.

Good vid by the way, but no two right hands are identical. The one that hit Holmes seemed to go more through the target. That said, Ali said that punch in round 2 of his fight with Shavers was the hardest he had ever been hit. Shavers had a nasty right!

Not later in his career. He has taken pretty much the hardest punches from the hardest punchers of all time. Liston, Frazier, Lyle, Foreman and Shavers were never close to knocking him out and they hit him HARD and flush several times or many times.
Holmes has been hurt and knocked down more often and against much weaker punchers than Ali's. He was also knocked out COLD once when past his prime which never happened to Ali.
Now how are you gonna claim that they have the same chin? Video evidence suggests otherwise. Watch this vid again. Ali could take any shot Holmes took and keep standing and waving asking for more.

do you know what rolling with a punch is? its when you get hit flush and move your head with the punch so you take less damage.

how about you check out all those flush shots ali took and you let me know when you come across several where his head dosnt go flying back with the punch or hes not allready moving backwards.

their chins were the same ali just rolled punches better.

and thats not even factoring in the years from 60-67 where alis chin was just step up from glass.....maybe like balsa wood where as holmes chin was allways pretty decent.

Are you the same moron on the comment page? Everybody already told you on the youtube vid as well.

You're joking right? Rolling with a punch happens BEFORE the punch lands! Look at any Hopkins fight, he already turns his head before he gets hit. When you are already hit you can't roll with the punch anymore, you already absorbed all of the force.

Ali's head snapped back against Shavers BECAUSE HE WAS HIT.

His chin is way better than Holmes'. Holmes got knocked out against a puncher that doesn't hit as hard as the punchers that Ali faced. Holmes was this close to getting ko'd by Shavers, Ali took the exact same punch and kept standing.

"They had the same chin" LOL

you dont box. you slip before the punch lands you roll when its landing.

There's one move that might be called a half-defense. That's the "head roll." You roll the head when you're getting hit. You roll the head when it's too late to do anything else.
hold a peice of paper with one hand and punch it. hold a peice of card board with one hand and punch it.....which did you connect more with?

now when the paper rolled with your punch....i guess it moved before you hit it right?.....

and i dont know about this comment stuff. im at work and cant visit youtube or watch any form of streaming media, i havnt even watched the vid you posted.

you say that and i say ali snapped his head back to take less of the hit.

im pretty sure im right, though i should really watch the vid first.

shavers had a very fast top speed compared to some one like foreman. this top speed allowed him to connect much more soundly at the moment of impact even with some one rolling the punch, but ali was still rolling his punches and making them alot softer.

"They had the same chin" LOL
they did ali just had better rolling skills.

^^^^^^ It doesn't seem to me Ali rolled with the punch in the video. It's hard to tell from the angle given.

Maybe a couple different angles will give us a better indication.

It seemed to be a flush shot and Ali didn't roll with it at all.
